October 2011

Not only has Halloween crept up on us – but the end of the month is here too, which – at TruffleShuffle can only mean one thing: REVIEW OF THE MONTH!

As you may know we are running an extra special discount code for you lovely lot, so the warehouse boys have been extra busy picking orders – which means there should be goodies dropping through your letterbox over the next couple of days! All you have to do is add a review on the product page – telling us why you love your new TruffleShuffle item so much – we will then choose our favourite and award them £50 to spend on the site. It couldn’t be easier!

Last months winner Tia Gold, left us this glowing review of her first purchase with us…

‘This was the first time I have used Truffle Shuffle, but it wont be last. I ordered the DJ Yoda t’shirt as a present for a Star Wars fan who also happens to be a DJ. He loved it and kept saying “Dance I will make you for the force is strong in me”. Anyway, as a seasoned internet shopper I have to say that truffle Shuffle has one of the best customer services I have ever come across. I actually thought the force might be real when my items turned up on Saturday morning, as I’d only placed the order on Friday afternoon. Use again will I. Good are you!’

If you’ve recently bagged yourself one of our new Star Wars t-shirts why not follow Tia’s lead and tell us why you love it so much…? In true ‘TruffleShuffle’ style we have extended the time you have to leave a review, meaning you have until Wednesday morning to review your favourite TruffleShuffle products. We also want to hear what Fancy Dress Costumes you guys donned this weekend (and what kind of reaction they got from fellow 80′s enthusiasts!)

There’s still time to take advantage of the discount code (by entering ‘HAPPYHALLOWEEN’ as you check out) – we will dispatch your order tomorrow, meaning it should be with you in the next couple of days.

We look forward to reading your reviews! xoxo

This week, the TruffleShufflers have been racking their brains and seeking inspiration for that well-known Halloween dilemma, what the hell do I carve into my pumpkin???

Yes, for this week’s Friday Facebook competition, everyone at Truffle Towers was given their very own pumpkin with the brief that we had 2 days to design and create a character carving with a retro, 80′s spin.

Well, I must say the end results were very impressive! After a week of highly competitive talk and secretive Internet researching, the portly pumpkins have now been papped and released on our Facebook page!

The name of the game is to LIKE or comment on your favourite to help us decide which TruffleShuffler deserves the title of Pumpkin carving chief! The one with the most votes wins the TruffleShuffler a prize and whoever likes or comments on any pumpkin gets popped into a hat and we’ll randomly select one of you to win a special Halloween treat! You can enter here until 2pm today so please do get invovled!

So, here are the entries..

Pac-Man

Batman

Superman Logo

Spiderman

Mario (Super Mario Brothers, Nintendo)

Gene Simmons (KISS)

Jack (Nightmare Before Christmas)

Sunny, You Goonie!

by Sunny on October 28, 2011

Heeyyy you guys!

It’s been a little while since I submitted a guest post for Truffleshuffle, so I thought I’d better make this one a really good one!

Well I don’t know about you but there was clearly only one topic that I could talk about:
‘The Goonies’

Probably one of the best films EVER. You can quote me on that one too!

A few weeks ago, The Goonies was on one of the TV channels. Despite the fact that I have it on DVD and must have watched it at least a trillion times, I always get excited when it comes on. So much so I have to let all my friends and family know it’s on. You can’t beat watching it live! :)

My dream team DVD collection!

What really shocked me though this time around was the amount of people on my Twitter and some of my colleagues who had never heard of it let alone watched it. SAY WHAAAT! How have people never watched this film before?? I mean, I wasn’t even born in 1985 (1988 in case you were wondering) when it was released yet I remember watching it when I was a nipper.

So once I had stopped shouting “I can’t believe you haven’t watched The Goonies man!” I then had the task of explaining exactly what the film is about and why it is the best film ever, pretty easy task really.

See I feel explaining it using the written word just doesn’t do it justice at all, or even speaking about it for that matter. It’s just one of those films that you have to see yourself to truly appreciate it, but here goes.

It’s a classic adventure film where a group of friends find a treasure map and set off on an amazing adventure to try and find “One-eyed” Willy’s treasure. All for the purpose of saving their beloved town- the Goon Docks. Along the way they have to put up with a family of bad guys (The Fratelli’s), booby-traps (booty traps as Data says-lolz), a deformed yet friendly ‘giant’ Sloth and a whole lot of crazy scary scenarios.

Trust me this film is pretty epic. Oh and it isn’t as “childish” as it sounds!

This is the kind of film where you fall in love with every character, makes you laugh, it makes you root for the Goonie gang to find the treasure and most of all it makes you wish you were a kid again- a Goonie.

As I once read somewhere, watching The Goonies is like watching all your dreams come true on screen.

If you haven’t watched it this film then why not add it on to your to do list? After seeing this film, you’ll be quoting the dialogues (fifty-dollar bills!) and doing the ‘Truffleshuffle’ (yep this website was named after The Goonies- it is THAT cool).

My very first purchase all those years ago on Truffleshuffle was actually a Goonies t-shirt, and trust me it wasn’t my last! There are always some ace Goonie goodies available.

Just one of my Goonies goodies

Cos just like Sloth loves Chunk. I love the Goonies…and Truffleshuffle of course.

Now excuse me, I’ve got a date with Mikey, Brand, Chunk, Mouth, Data, Andy, Stef and Sloth…

Sunny

XOXO

On Wednesday a few of us Trufflers travelled to London to see what Amplified have in store for us in their next collection and so we thought we would share a few of the sneaky peek pictures with you. The Amplified Preview day was held in a perfectly “Amplified” building in Hackney called the Depositories which is where Dragon’s Den used to be filmed – how exciting!

What an amazing venue for the Amplified Preview day

As well as some amazing new bands and great new imagery we got to see the fab new shapes and styles Amplified have been working on and we just know you are going to love them. To see us through the cold winter months there are a collection of warm and cosy sweaters for men and ladies.

New men's sweaters in grey marl and oatmeal

We love this Run DMC design!

Our favourite item from the day was the new ladies speckled sweater with a new Ramones print which has just been introduced and is a great flattering fit, we think it is a great winter wardrobe necessity.

Ladies speckled sweater

Perhaps a little more suited for the spring/summer seasons are the new vest dresses featuring some of the best band designs that Amplified have to offer (although we are thinking we might get away with wearing them in the winter with some nice thick tights, warm boots and a chunky knit!)

Check out the brand new vest dress shape!

To finish off our day we were shown the new additions to the hugely popular Ikons range, with artists such as Axl Rose (Guns N Roses), Kurt Cobain (Nirvana) and Steve Tyler (Aerosmith) now featuring we can’t wait to get this new collection on the site.

New additions to the Ikons range!

We loved this new Beatles print!

With our first, brand new Amplified delivery landing at TruffleShuffle in 4 weeks time, we hope this has given you a little insight in to what you might like to add to your Christmas lists!

O.k. so two weeks ago I set myself a challenge to watch as many movies as possible over the course of a weekend.

I’m almost ashamed to say I failed that challenge. I put it down to a short attention span and consuming too much alcohol on Satuday night which meant I got out of bed to find I’d missed most of the day. EPIC FAIL!

Luckily though, all is not lost! Whilst browsing the good old TV guide this week, I noticed that Sky movies sci/fi has a Superman marathon on (not easy at all to say.)

Yes all my fellow wannabe Superheroes, all four Superman movies starring the legendary Christopher Reeves along with Superman Returns are being shown on Sunday from 12:40 pm onwards.

Unfortunately for me however, I don’t have Sky nor do I know any one that does, bad times! Never fear though, if you’re in the same boat and need a retro movie smack upside the head this weekend, here’s an alternative list of old school delights available to you this weekend on good old regular television.

Saturday

Smokey and the Bandit 2: Watch Bert Reynolds and his awesome tash from 11:55-1:45 on ITV

City Slickers 2: I’ve seen the first one so I’ll try to watch this which is on from 1:45-3:50 on 5 USA

Short Circuit 2: Number 5 is alive and is a total robot legend, in fact the best robot ever next to Steven Hawkins whose technically not a robot but a cyborg. On from 4:00pm- 6:10pm on G.O.L.D

Weekend at Bernie’s: It’s pure 80’s gold and if you haven’t seen it, you should! In fact, if there’s one movie to watch this weekend it’s this one. On from 7:00pm-9:00pm, ITV4

Sunday

Every Which Way But Loose: Clint Eastwood and an orangutan named Clyde get into trouble with hillarious results. It’s on from 11:45-1:50 on ITV

Batteries Not Included: Tiny space robot fun, on from 3:35PM- 5:40PM on ITV3

Toy Story 2: Buzz, Woody and my personal favourites Mr. and Mrs. Potato head are back for round 2 in my pick of the day! Fantastic fun for all the family! Catch it from 6:05-8:05 on C5

Hot Shots Part Deux: And our final retro treat comes in the form of Charlie Sheen before he went a bit nuts mind. Brilliant fan! 7:20-9:00pm Film 4

And that’s all folks! Any great movie recommendations you might have would very much be appreciated seeing as I’m trying to make up for my appalling lack of commitment last week.

If you do watch any of these films let us know what you thought, after all, the films you watch inspire us to make better t-shirts.

Have an awesome weekend everybody.
