February 2013

When 16 bit was the king of consoles and your teenage life was controlled by something called a D-pad. You were either a Super Nintendo kid or like me

You were all about the Sega Megadrive. Obviously Nintendo had Mario and Sega had Sonic the Hedgehog. These games are have firmly proven themselves in gaming history and that will never change, But what about those forgotten classics of the 90s gaming scene. The games you only saw while watching Games Master on T.V. or the ones you would swop with your friends at school in the playground. Well for all you 90’s gamers out there here five of my favourite played and always wanted Megadrive forgotten classics

1) Rocket Knight Adventure

What’s cooler than a possum wielding a sword and and jetpack…..NOTHING! Some say this was the best side scrolling Megadrive game of its time which maybe why I’ve heard rumours Konami may be remaking it. Maybe there’s still hope of fulfilling my childhood dream of finally owning this game.

2) Italia 90

Mega Games 1 brought the three games on one cartridge. Super Hang on and Columns were the first two games but it was all about World Cup Italia 90 for me. Much like sensible soccer it was one of those games where you could pin point the perfect scoring point

On the pitch and score every time. I was addicted. I think my best score was Mexico 34 Germany 1 (this was also to my knowledge the first FIFA licensed game)

3) Shadow Dancer Secret of Shinobi

Shinobi is a classic but Shadow dancer had the added advantage of having a dog which you could command to attack enimies. I always wanted this game an only got to play it a few times when my friend Chris let me play it. (I’m still annoyed with you Christ for never lending me this game! (Raises angry fist)

4) Earth Worm Jim

What happens when a worm finds a Cosmic space suit? Earth Worm Jim thats what. Using your head as a helicopter and whip whilst blasting crows and having bungy jumping fights with giant snot monsters. It was awesome, It also had its own cartoon as well which was just was fun.

5) Road Rash

This game is probably the reason I started started riding. It was a motorcycle street race game where you had to fight off other riders weilding chains clubs and your bare knuckles with out getting busted by the cops. THIS GAME NEEDS TO BE REMADE!!!!! *Cough hint*

I hope this has sparked some awesome gaming childhood memories for you guys. What are your forgotten greats? Think any of these deserve a reserection on a next Gen console or are they best left alone. Feel free to share your thoughts.

Sometimes a song, a smell or a friend inquisitively asks “ do you remember those…?” and your instantly warped back in time to a memory or a place where something quite awesome may have happened.  We’ve been agonisingly drudging through our brain matter (and the internet) to find our sometimes obscure, sometimes amazing memory inducing artefacts!

You may recognize some……! If you had, wanted or hated let us know.

Your school transport was one of these!

Any other bike was instantly made cool with “Spokey Dokes”

You accessorised with these:

You owned a pair of these (or in our case, just hoping we would one day be this cool!)

School lunch included:

The playground was a dangerous fun place to be (anyone remember the pain of being smacked round the ankles with a Skip-It?!)

Home after school to watch some classic TV………

……. while tea was prepared!

Just enough play time………

……. before bedtime with a story (on cassette of course!)

Good night
Sleep tight
Don’t let the bed bugs bite……..!

These were just some of the amazing things that made growing up in the 80′s AWESOME! What do you remember?

If only the stars featured on our Tv show t-shirts knew one day they would end up on the TruffleShuffle blog for their silly ways – they may have avoided being caught up in the funniness otherwise known as Tv Bloopers.

When we’re not drinking tea and being the leading retailer of super cool t-shirts – we can be found giggling at videos on YouTube, especially ones involving our favourite actors being caught off guard while creating magical TV shows.

We’ve included a few of our favourites, hopefully all the swear words have been replaced with beeps? If not, you’ll have to cover your delicate ears on this one!

First up is Friends…one our ultimate favourite TV shows! (Before you ask, Ross was my favourite!)

Friends T-shirts…

Providing the best selection of Big Bang Theory tees is hard work, let me tell ya! We like to think we deserve a cheeky chuckle at Sheldon and Co, every now and again.

Dr Who has to be up there with our favourite TV shows, so it was a real treat to stumble across these out-takes and bloopers…
