June 2015

The TruffleShuffle team are taking part in our local Raft Race this weekend to help raise much needed funds for the RNLI Portishead Lifeboat .

Our MD’s son was the youngest person to have ever been rescued by the fantastic team of volunteers at just 6 weeks old so it’s a cause which is very close to our hearts. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, their lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved at least 140,000 lives and volunteers make up 95% of the charity, including 4,600 volunteer lifeboat crew members and 3,000 volunteer shore crew. The RNLI needs to raise a whopping £335,000 every day to run the 235 lifeboat stations and 163 lifeguarded beaches so we’re hoping to raise as much as possible to support this fantastic charity.

We’re going for a Goonies theme for our raft and are hoping to come up with something One Eyed Willie would be proud of (pics to follow soon!)

We’ll be battling our way across the lake and around the island to the finishing line and with prizes awarded for the winning rafts as well as the “Best Dressed Raft”, “Best Designed Raft” and “Most Sponsorship Raised”, we’ve gotta win something right? If not – our MD will be walking the plank!

Portishead lakegrounds AKA The Battleground!

If you’d like to show your support for this fantastic charity and help us on our way to raising our target of £2,500, please visit our Just Giving page here. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Or if you’re local to Bristol – please come on down and cheer us on! It’s fun for all the family and all for a brilliant cause so well worth a visit! Full details here!

Thank you so so much in advance and we’ll be sure to post a follow up blog next week to let you know how we got on and how many of us ended up in the water! Eeeeek!

Stuffed crust! It’s only the weekend again….yep really!

Like an keen and greatly experienced pizza chef working their magic before the super-hot oven, we find ourselves once again with a whole weekends worth of retro-tastic movie toppings to select from to help layer up and bake our perfect weekend. We’ll pop on some spicy romance, some slithers of thickly cut and perfectly aged plot, a dash of action and of course plenty of cheese before nicely toasting in the oven. We’ll be left feeling full but ever so replete after stuffing ourselves on some of the best this weekend has to offer.

Have a happy retro weekend.
