Perhaps one of the most influential, interesting, iconic and talented people ever to hit the stage and screen, David Bowie was not only our childhood hero through the cult film Labyrinth, but also someone we have known and loved our entire lives for his simply genius music.

Always on the hunt for a good bit of tasty knowledge to sink our teeth into, we thought we would do some digging and pop together some cool facts we’ve recently learned about the legend himself. Sit back and enjoy our 10 Things You [Probably] Didn’t Know About David Bowie…

> His eyes are actually the same colour – Perhaps hard to believe we know, his eyes are the same colour, however after a fight as a kid his left eye was left permanently dilated which gives it the appearance of being darker.

> As impressive at it is, Bowie was in a total of 10 bands; The Hype, Tao Jones Index, Tin Machine, The Buzz, The Riot Squad, The King Bees, The Lower Third, The Manish Boys, The Konrads and The Hooker Brothers.

> He released the first downloadable single from a major artist – Back in 1996, Bowie released his single ‘Telling Lies’ on his website. Given the dial-up speeds back then this might have taken around 11 minutes to complete. How did we have the patience back then?? Well worth the wait though huh.

> He did the voice (gurgling) for the baby in the song “Magic Dance,” in the movie Labyrinth.

> He was buddies with a young Elton John – When he was 17, Bowie (who was then still David Jones) loved to meet up with his friend Reginald Kenneth Dwight (who later of course became Elton John) at the Soho’s Giaconda Cafe, to hang out and talk about music.

> He really didn’t like the song ‘The Little Drummer Boy’ – A classic clip of the man himself with music veteran Bing Crosby singing together shows Bowie singing a song called ‘Peace on Earth’ while Bing sang ‘The Little Drummer Boy’. Bowie’s part, ‘Peace on Earth’, was written for him so Bowie didn’t have to sing a simple duet of ‘The Little Drummer Boy’, so they turned it into a mix of the two. Awesome stuff!

> Letting the numbers speak for themselves, David Bowie sold more than 140 million records in his lifetime.

> His first television appearance was in 1964, at the age of 17, he was interviewed on a BBC program as the founder of The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Long-haired Men.

> David Bowie’s best known duets are of course with Freddie Mercury, Mick Jagger, and Bing Crosby. However, have you seen this live duet of ‘Tonight’ he did with Tina Turner?

>In 1980, he starred in the Broadway production of The Elephant Man.

So there you have them folks. Hopefully we’ve given you a little extra glimpse into the life of this extraordinary man who shook the world and stamped his mark on it forever.

Help spread your love for this cult icon with a little help of our huge range of David Bowie TShirts or Labyrinth Merchandise. So many items from here we’ll sure be rocking for a long time to come.

Calling all you Bowie fans! We’ve got a real treat for you here. Working hard once again, we’ve been super busy designing some amazing new Bowie Tees for all you fans out there to snap up and we’ve come up with a real cracker featuring the place that helped to make Bowie just who he is…The Marquee Club.
.
The Marquee Club is a real legend of the streets of London and has seen a whole host of the biggest names and bands ever to take to the stage. Often defined as “the most important venue in the history of modern pop music”, this venue is just about as cool as they come and has seen more styles and genres develop that almost any other.

This iconic stage was first opened back on April the 19th 1958 at 165 Oxford Street, London (now at 90 Wardour Street, Soho). Since then is has seen the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Who, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Pink Floyd, Joy Division, The Clash, The Cure, The Police, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Sex Pistols and of course… David Bowie!

Starting his music career at a young age in a number of local bands, Bowie soon launched a solo career which was through The Marquee club’s very own label ‘Marquee Artists’. David Bowie became a bit of a regular name with The Lower Third and The Buzz and also took up a residency there.

After his launch of ‘Hunky Dory’ back on the 3rd of February 1970 which featured “Changes” and “Life On Mars?”, Bowie simply became too big for the limited capacity of the Marquee Club. It was this last legendary gig that had inspired out latest exclusive David Bowie T-Shirts!

Take a peep…

You heard it right superhero fans!

Yep two of the most iconic comic book characters will be getting a little makeover this summer which is… you know… is kind of a big deal.

According to our sources, the redesign will come as a result of DC Comics’ “New 52″ re-branding which was revealed at their Covergence event. Looking to introduce fresh new looks and perhaps a more modern element to their characters while really emphasising the traits that they are really looking to focus on from each character, these new designs are a far cry from the designs of old….heck Superman doesn’t even have a cape!

So! What’s all the fuss about you cry? Below we’ve grabbed some sneaky peaks of what to expect from the new comic book characters. Go take a peep…
Superman

Picture Via Nerdist.com

So as you can see, pretty different right? Giving off a much more aggressive look and feel, this (slightly taller?) cape-less superhero certainly looks more like your average guy rather than something a bit more like a costume.

Rocking a simple Superman T-Shirt, jeans and boots, one thing’s is for sure….it’ll make changing costume much easier but perhaps wont do wonders as a disguise. Just saying.

Wonder Woman

Picture Via hitfix.com

As many of you die-hard fans will know, Wonder Woman is no stranger to weird new looks and costumes. She’s had tight shorts, leather jackets, capes, swords and whips in her collection at different points.

This new look however is pretty different from her usual get up. Showing far less skin, she will be rocking this super battle-ready suit complete with blades which gives off a much more aggressive look.

So what do you think of these latest looks for these iconic characters? Let us know but leaving a comment below.

For some of us it doesn’t seem so long ago when Top of the Pops was overrun with Britpop bands, you had your hair cut like Rachel from Friends and Saturday night TV was about watching celebrities getting gunged. But believe it or not, enough time has passed for the 90s style to come swinging in with full neon glory back into fashion again.
.
As we all know with this decade, this is tricky territory, as a step too far can turn you into Edina from Ab Fab. So whether you were watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers or Men Behaving Badly at the time, here are some fashion icons of the era you should be taking notice of if you want to get the 90s revival look right. Enjoy!
Cher Horowitz
Starting with the ultimate 90s fashion icon, Cher from 90s smash hit Clueless. The most popular girl in Bronson Alcott High School, she had the lifestyle, the attitude and was always perfectly dressed for the occasion – with the help of some awesome virtual wardrobe software that I still to this day wish I had. This summer, if you’re going to rock the 90s revival look, channel Cher and go for cute matching two piece suits for the office and a strappy top worn over a t-shirt for the gym.
.
Will Smith
If you’re a guy you have it easy, because Will Smith during his time starring in the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is a one-man 90s fashion guide. If you’re not sporting a snapback cap and a ludicrously bright t-shirt you are most certainly not Da Bomb. This look may be a little tricky to carry off, but as long as you’re prepared to muck about with your mates, have fun and still be morally correct in the face of a sticky situation, then it’ll work for you – it worked for Will!
.
Gwen Stafani
Back when Gwen Stafani was still known as ‘that hot singer in No Doubt’, her carefree hippie-grunge attire made her even more popular for her leading fashion sense, on top of her singing talent. Take inspiration from Gwen by mixing and matching cultural styles by donning a crop top, a sari style skirt and wearing your hair up in multiple knots. If you get it right you’ll be an ultra cool summer babe, but beware of the accidental mono-brow effect bindi abuse can cause.
.
Clarissa Darling
I’m not condoning all of Clarissa’s looks, but Clarissa Explains It All pretty much showcased the whole spectrum of 90s fashion female and male (look up her best bud Sam Anders). So choose carefully from some of Clarissa’s many styles, most of all various quirky choker pendants, Dr. Martin boots, dinosaur earrings and shirts over strappy tops. Especially if you can source a gem like this Lichtenstein-esque cartoon strip patterned shirt.
.
Spice Girls
The Spice Girls deserve honourable mention. Being a huge influence of the times they went through many phases in fashion. In my opinion the best thing they brought us was the platform trainer. This love child of a PE trainer and a corrective shoe was made popular by the girl group in the 90s ensuring anyone brave enough to don this fashion accessory an embarrassing tumble at the school disco.
.
This year’s take on the casual platform transform sneakers, DM style boots and even jellies into platforms. You’ll be uber cool if you’re seen wearing them, just watch your step!
.
Kelly Kapowski
Finally, Kelly Kapowski was the most popular character in Saved By The Bell. Girls wanted to be her and guys wanted to be with her. She rocked the bralet and jacket combo, she owned matching floral crop top and trousers look and nailed the knotted t-shirt.
.
Although my personal favourite was Lisa Turtle who was always immaculately dressed and, let’s face it, was less flaunty. So what if Kelly got Zach Morris? Lisa was fighting off the boys, even if that was mostly Screech…
This is an exciting time for those of us who grew up in the 90s as we’ll finally get the chance to wear all the things our pocket money wouldn’t stretch to, or our mothers wouldn’t let us go out in. Who knows, maybe my VHS collection will be worth something and turkey dinosaurs will become a delicacy. We can only hope.
Get some 90s clothing of your very own! Yes we’d welcomed the amazing brand Hero and Cape into the TruffleShuffle family.
Starting back in 2011, Hero & Cape has a fab fun and tongue-in-cheek approach to pop graphics and authentic hand-printed clothing all with a 90s inspired design.
Screen printed by hand, each and every design is unique and lovingly crafted from the hand-illustrated designs to the manual screen printing on organic cotton. Amazing! Take a peep…..

You heard it right folks,  with a whole host of the original cast hitting the small screen as their classic characters once again, as well as some special gusts, this year’s Sport Relief if shaping up to be one of the most historic yet!

Only Fools And Horses
Over 10 years on from the shows last episode (amazing to think!), this latest script will focus around Del Boys birthday and promises to be packed with lashing of the original humor and personalities as ever before. We can’t wait!
Comic Relief CEO, Kevin Cahill, had this to say about the return:
“Only Fools and Horses is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. It’s incredible that those involved with the show since the very beginning have come together for this Sport Relief special and we’re especially touched that Jim and Dan Sullivan wrote the sketch together using some of their dad John’s old notes. To be able to record a new Only Fools and Horses sketch is in itself very special but for David Beckham, who is a huge fan of the show, to be part of this is truly brilliant.”
That’s right! Former England captain Becks, will be the star attraction as he rubs shoulder with the classic cast David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst.

Launching over on BBC One this Friday (March 21st), be sure to head on over and watch this amazing event and of course if you can donate to this amazing cause.
