We were so excited about launching the amazing brand Cheesy Christmas Jumpers on So far, they have gone down a storm and with limited numbers left, are set for complete sell out very soon! The cheesy trend has hit the big time this Winter and we love the vintage, nostalgic feeling, the festive fashion item of choice gives us with every wear!

Mark Everett, the enthusiastic co-founder of this fun and funky brand kindly took some time to be interviewed and his sheer passion and love of the brand is clear to see from his answers:

What does a Christmas Jumper mean to you?

For me it’s not so much the Christmas Jumper but the whole Festive Season. The season brings about a chance for everyone to stretch the boundaries of what is normally publically acceptable, it’s a very liberating, fun and exciting feeling to be able to walk into a shop, nip to my local pub or even book into a high end restaurant wearing a garish, Cheesy Christmas Jumper which rather than the ridicule you would expect at any other time of year, sparks cheers, compliments and the much loved ‘where did you get that?’.

A true Christmas Jumper should not fit into the colour scheme of your wardrobe or match your favorite winter scarf. It should contradict everything your inner fashion conscious self says and hideously but marvelously clash with every other item of clothing in your possession. And of course the king of all Christmas jumpers has flashing lights which says to all, look at me I am happy to be different and wear something which I want to wear not what the Catwalks of Milan tell me I should be wearing.

How did it all begin?

The brand was born in 2009 and was the result of a reminiscing session around the family dining table (queue Monty Python’s Four Yorkshire men),” where have all the naff 1980′s jumpers gone, the jumpers your Great Aunt would turn up with, the jumpers you would spend all day itching in and sweating profusely whilst anxiously waiting for Great Aunt Mildred to finish her snowball and fall asleep before removal of the offending garment was possible!”.

It was after this conversation that my father (Cheesy co-founder Paul Everett) and I decided to bring back the tradition of the great Christmas Jumper, minus the itchiness of course! After all who can resist the cheesy characters, over the top colour schemes and out of this world decorations.

Research told me the tradition was still very much alive in the US, but I was unsure if the reserved folks of the UK would be as welcoming. To reduce risks our first products were all made in house, to order and sold using online auctioneer EBay. This low risk strategy meant we had very little overheads and enabled us to keep trading right up to the 23rd December something our competitors manufacturing processes prevented them from doing.

Cheesy was born and has since grown in size and brand awareness year on year. I couldn’t be more proud of what has been achieved, but I have a lot more growing and developing to do, we are a ‘Tight Knit Brand’ who’s ethos revolves around hard work, customer satisfaction and fun. I think about Christmas 365 days a year, much to my wife’s despair and I am constantly seeking inspiration and new technologies to help put the Cheesy Christmas Jumper firmly onto everyone’s Christmas Wish List.

My brand has a very simple structure. I deal with all inputs and outputs and I don’t use a complex IT system. I am design, sourcing, manufacturing, marketing, advertising, photographer, model, customer service representative, picker and packer. Most importantly I am aware and in complete control of everything at every stage. The brand is my passion, I live, breathe and sleep my products and truly love every minute of it. How do I do all this?  I am Mr Cheesy Christmas Jumper.

What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

I couldn’t possibly pick one thing, but I do love the run up to the big day. Picking and buying the gifts, spending hours badly wrapping them, going to pick the Christmas tree with the family, building the kids toys on Christmas Eve and waiting for the jolly big man in his red suit to arrive accompanied by his old mate Rudolf.

On the other hand it’s pretty difficult to beat getting together with my nearest and dearest and listening to the sounds of cheesy Christmas songs, wrapping paper being ripped, over excited kids who would rather play with the empty boxes than the piles of toys,  while the tell tale smell of roast turkey drifts in from the kitchen and mum has one or two glasses of sherry too much and burns the sprouts.

Oh and there is the thrill of trying to wear all your Christmas prezzies at once on the big day, jeans, novelty socks, boxers and flashing Rudolf tie, t-shirt, trainers and of course not forgetting your brand new fabulous Cheesy Christmas Jumper.

So in summary I pretty much just love everything Christmas represents!

What’s the best Christmas prezzie you ever got?

I was born in 1979 so the majority and best bit’s of my childhood were in the 1980′s. In my opinion the 1980′s was the ultimate era of toys and gave Santa plenty of exciting ideas to entertain two very over excited boys. A few favorites spring to mind and a couple of good examples are the Scalectric which my dad spent months building in the loft and transforming into a mini Silverstone for me and my brother and the good old Atari 2600 with chopper command, pitfall and stampede.

But my favorite by far has got to be He-Man complete with Castle Greyskull. My brother got Snake mountain and Skeletor the same year so we had hours of fun with some epic battles. By the Power of Greyskull… I Have the Power! Team He-Man or Team Skeletor????

What is your favorite Christmas song?

There’s nothing like a good old Christmas song and the cheesy 70′s and 80′s classics are defo my favorites.  But to me nothing says Christmas more than ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ by Shakin Stevens. A classic festive tune with wonderful bell chimes, up lifting lyrics, a fantastic video featuring the scariest looking Santa ever and Shaky himself even dons a Cheesy Christmas Jumper in the video, legend!

What is your favorite Christmas cracker joke?

Who hides in the bakery at Christmas? A mince spy!

Why do you think Christmas Jumpers are so popular?

Let’s face it everyone (although you may have to beat it out of some) loves a good excuse to dress up and stand out from the crowd. Christmas Jumpers are an easy alternative to full on Santa regalia, they can be worn with jeans, leggings, shirts, tights, in trainers, heels or boots. But what really seals the deal is the fact they can be worn to any festive occasion including parties, works night out, Christmas Shopping or even on the big day itself – everyone needs an outfit for Christmas day right? So why not make it extra festive this year!

The popularity of the Christmas Jumper has been demonstrated over the last two seasons by the high street brands following suit and creating a more sedate version of the Christmas Jumper. However for the true Christmas Jumper fanatic, the wilder and bolder designs created by independent brands are the real deal. Stay independent and support the brands which started the Christmas Jumper revolution!

With all your amazing press and celebrity coverage, who were you most proud to be seen wearing you jumpers?

Without doubt Keith Lemon.  He loved the Rudolph garment, looked great in it and went to the trouble of tweeting me to tell me how much he loved the range.

Keith and Gino were the first celebrities to wear our garments in 2010, so that moment will always be special to us.  I especially remember ringing all my family and friends and getting them to set their freeview boxes on record and Gino’s face when he realised he was going to have to wear something so garish on national TV!

If you could pick any celeb or personality to wear one of your jumpers, who would you pick and why?

This a hard one because I have so many people that I would love to see wearing a Cheesy Christmas Jumper. For commercial reasons and brand awareness, then at this moment in time I would have to say any or all the members from One Direction.  But from a personal point of view I’d love to see the return of an Only Fools and Horses Christmas Special with both Del Boy and Rodney decked out in our Cheesy Christmas  Jumpers, after all who’s Christmas day is not complete without an episode?

What new ideas and designs can we expect from Cheesy Christmas Jumpers in the future?

I’m always playing about with new ideas and designs, I think about Christmas Jumpers 365 days of the year. After two years of developing the LED lighted Christmas Jumpers we are planning to move forward with the light up range for 2013 and take the garment to the next level with new ideas  and technologies for lights etc.

We also aim to take more inspiration from the 80′s American ugly Christmas sweater era by creating a garment that will look truly vintage but with the high quality production of a modern knit.

Every time I design a new jumper I always remember the brands name ‘Cheesy’, this makes me stay within the brands identity and keeps the designs unique to the Cheesy Christmas Jumpers brand. I’m not designing a garment you would find in your high street fashion shops or on a Milan Catwalk.

This year I invested a large amount of time selecting a good colour palette as I wasn’t entirely happy with last year’s colours, I have found berry reds and off whites give much more aesthetically pleasing garment when compared to the previous year’s primary colours.

I aim to further develop our colour palette in the new Christmas 2013 range. I have already had some samples of raw materials for next year’s design and struggling to stop the designing bug consuming my days - Watch this space!

As far as fashion trends go, it is probably fair to say that no decade is quite as notoriously bad as the 80’s. Can you name any other period where you could get away with wearing skin tight pants one day followed by baggy “MC Hammer” style pants the next? Not forgetting of course that you could also have been wearing leg warmers, a sweater and a miniskirt all at the same time and probably in electric neon colors as well!

Color was the overriding theme throughout the 80’s and mixing up some of the brightest options together was somehow deemed acceptable, what were we all thinking? Here are some of the great fashion statements that were made during this decade and some of the famous people who wore them and for some reason seemed to inspire us to do the same.

Shoulder Pads

Synonymous with the 1980’s , shoulder pads were THE fashion statement for women who wanted to “Power Dress” and stand out from the crowd, despite the fact that looking back, they may have looked like an American footballer in a dress when you look at the size of the pads. Joan Collins in Dynasty and even Princess Diana wore their shoulder pads with pride and the look was complete with the big hairdo.

Leg Warmers

Was it really cold outside in the 1980’s, or was there some other reason why they were so popular? Jane Fonda is the main culprit for this fashion faux-pas as she wore them in her workout videos but Madonna and Cyndi Lauper do not escape from blame and neither do the entire cast of “Footloose”.

Fingerless Gloves

If you someone in the street today wearing fingerless gloves you might be tempted to offer them the change for a cup of coffee but in the 1980’s we all seemed to think that it was so cool and trendy, no doubt inspired by Madonna who wore them a lot in her boy toy phase, but the fashion victims were more wide ranging than that and even Mr T from the A-Team happily wore this fashion accessory.

Men Trying to Become Un-Dateable
Just in case the men out there were smugly thinking that they had escaped the attention, some of the fashion trends of the 80’s would virtually guarantee that you were virtually un-dateable if they were replicated today. Don Johnson looked cool in his white suit and shades in the popular TV show “Miami Vice” but should we really have emulated that look and completed the outfit with white shoes and white socks? Michael Jackson influenced the popularity of leather and bomber jackets but another look that many men thought looked attractive to the opposite sex was wearing Hawaiian shirts or just a T-Shirt underneath a designer jacket, how did any of us actually find a partner and get married?

As you know I’m a guest blogger on and it is one of my favourite things about being a blogger. I have so much love for them!

Now the majority of their t-shirts excite me but when I heard they had some new Rocky t-shirts in, man I could not contain my excitement. I absolutely love the Rocky films having grown up watching them. Balboa is a total legend. Before I became a guest blogger for TruffleShuffle, I actually got in touch with them on Facebook asking them to get some Rocky tees in for ladies, a request which was heard. The tee was of the iconic ‘Italian Stallion’ logo and was given to me as a birthday present by our Steph :)

But one Rocky tee just wasn’t going to be enough for me…

The lovely guys at TruffleShuffle knew about my Balboa love and offered to send me the TWO (not one but two!) Rocky t-shirts. Have I told you how much I love them? I was grinning like a Cheshire cat for days! The tees have arrived at a perfect time as I’m currently on a health kick and have been taking inspiration from the Rocky films. Yes you heard right.

Rocky T-ShirtsI’m not very good at dieting (chips are my weakness) so the only way to lose some weight and tone up is to get my exercise on. However I have wasted so much money on gym memberships in the past as I become lazy and stop going. I know I know! This year I thought I’d do things differently. After watching Rocky 3 one night, I found myself grabbing my skipping rope and going for it. I found the motivation I needed, It was under my nose the whole time. Forget all those celebrity workout dvd’s and Zumba classes, I just needed to take notes from Mr Rocky Balboa.

Now I don’t have my own Mickey calling me a lousy bum and spurring me on so I went to the next best thing: my iPod. Armed with the Rocky soundtrack I have started my own fitness regime. Gone are the days of ‘Get Fit or Die Trying’ (our university regime), its all about ‘Going the Distance with Rocky Balboa’. And so far so good!

My new ladies Rocky tees are ace and can be worn not just for a work out but in the day. I wear mine all the time. The mens tshirts are just as good. I LOVE this Rocky Vs Clubber Lang t-shirt! It’s too cool. Tempted to get it for myself hehe.

I was VERY tempted to name this blog post  “na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na naaa Batman!” because as you have probably realised by now that’s how mature I am. But there’s something about superheroes such as Batman that bring out that childish side to you. We all know that the idea of a man getting superpowers after being bitten by a radioactive spider or a man going around dressed as a bat is quite ridiculous yet we’re still enticed and get stupidly excited about this fantasy world.

Perfect example of this is of course ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ which is the third and final instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

I’ve never seen so many people- of all ages-get so excited by one film. It is definitely a buzz that only certain movies bring. After all, superheroes are amazing. Growing up I used to love watching superhero films such as Superman and Batman. Even TV series such as Wonder Woman and don’t laugh…Captain Planet.

Batman is the one superhero that really takes me back to my childhood. Forget the films; I always preferred Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo in the TV series. I can remember watching the TV series during our summer holidays on Channel 4 around 1.30pm! At the time they were so gripping and totally believable. I never questioned the convenient gadgets (there are 100 flights of stairs and the lifts not working…oh wait we can use the Batjet which is conveniently placed in the Batmobile) or the fact that nobody could tell that it was Bruce Wayne as Batman.  Who can forget the “Bam! Crash! Wallops!”?

It was this cheesy side of Batman that I preferred growing up and despite watching most of the Batman films my allegiance was always to the 1960’s caped crusader. But then Christian Bale happened.
Man he’s beautiful. But forget his beautiful face for a second if you can…it was his dark and suave Batman that got me gripped. Christopher Nolan’s Batman was a far cry from the ones I was used to- and I liked it!

So last week, I too was stupidly excited for the release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. With the day off from work, I managed to watch it before my friends who are die-hard Batman fans. Ha!

Without spoiling the film for those of you who haven’t seen it, it was amazing. I think the words “Oh Em Gee!” really sum it up.

After watching the film, all I wanted to do was put on a mask and go fight crime. But I sort of chickened out. So instead I put on a TruffleShuffle tee and just pretended I was Batman. Safer that way really…

As we’ve finally got a bit of sunshine, I wore my AWESOME Junk Food slouchy Batman t-shirt with some vintage denim shorts, spotty tights and hi top trainers. Not forgetting my aviators for the sunshiiine.

When I first got my latest Junk Food t-shirt (sized Medium) I thought woah this is big but once worn it looked fine as it’s meant to be slouchy. Perfect for when the weather is like this as its more comfortable and cooler.

Obviously being me, I couldn’t resist putting on a makeshift cape and pretending to be Batman. So mature Sunny, so mature.

I think this is the reason I’m not featured on the ‘cool’ blogger lists haha. But hey that’s the beauty of Truffleshuffle t-shirts. You get to relive your childhood and bring out that fun side of you! Who wants to be a bore!? Not me.

And if you’re not a fan of Batman *disappointed face* then there are loads of tees available that you could look cool in. I’ve got my eyes on the new Rocky t-shirts (yo Adrian!) as well as the Big Bang Theory T-shirts (Bazinga).

But for now, I’ve got a city to protect from crime and injustice. Ahem…

Me – Ello!
You – Did you just say ‘Hello’?
Me – No, I said ‘ELLO!’, but that’s close enough! I’m Jade from The Style Rawr, fashion bloggers extraordinaire and fan girls of everything Truffle Shuffle, nice to meet you! I’d invite you to come inside to meet the missus but this isn’t my blog, and errr…. I’m not a blue haired, scarf wearing worm in 80’s epic movie Labyrinth!

As a HUGE Labyrinth fan (obvs), I was super excited when Truffle Shuffle asked me if I wanted to check out one of their exclusive Labyrinth T Shirts, the Ladies White You Remind Me Of The Babe Bowie Labyrinth T Shirt – £20, and it inspired me to play a little dress up, just like our teenage heroine Sarah!

SO, ahem . . . (checks lines) . . . Through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, I have fought my way here to the garden patio beyond the back kitchen to take back the child that you have stolen. For my pose is as strong as yours, and my style is as great…

YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME!! Yep, I have a tutu dress under the tee and I’m wearing purple DM’s, a fantasy world has no fashion rules (I’m actually a firm believer that wearing superhero or princess costumes should be obligatory everyday uniform for all children under 5!), right?!

Believe me, it took all my might not to snatch the neighbour’s Dulux dog and run around the patio marking out my progress with lipstick. I felt so mischievous in this tee, it brought out my inner adventurer! I have always ADORED everything about Labyrinth; the amazing soundtrack (I used to do the Chilly Down dance in the living room in the summer hols), the beautiful masquerade ball scenes, Ludo and the rocks – ahhhhhh, memories!

Annnnnnnd this is the part where I admit to harbouring a wierd crush on David Bowie as King Jareth, maybe it was the tra la la tights or the eyeshadow skillz I don’t know, but I’m pretty darn happy to have him on my chest 0:)

The tee itself is exactly what you would expect from Truffle Shuffle; quality cotton, a true to size fit (this is a ladies L) and a good print, plus the Labyrinth range is exclusive to them so if you see someone else wearing one, give them a little Truffle Shuffler wave and a wink ;)

Be sure to check out the other retro movie t shirts featuring Goonies, Star Wars, Marvel, Clueless, Grease and even more childhood faves at Truffle Shuffle, it’s officially awesome!

J – Who me? Nooooo, I’m just a worm!

What comes to your mind when you think about the 1980s? The big hair? Mullets? Retro accessories? Tetris? Saved by the Bell? Some of the best films of all time? (The Goonies – hello!) There so much cheese associated with this decade that people just can’t seem to let go of – including the fashion… and the music!

In just under one month’s time, the 80s will be brought right to the forefront of people’s minds once again with the release of one of the most fun-looking musicals-turned-movies of all time – ‘Rock of Ages’! Classics such as ‘We built this city’, ‘Don’t stop believin” and ‘Can’t fight this feeling’ (plus much, much more) will be worming their way into our heads thanks to the likes of Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige and Russell Brand – the stars of this new film.

And the timing couldn’t be better really, as 80s fashion seems to have made a comeback; bodycon dresses, denim jackets, plastic jewellery, bum bags – wait, bum bags?

Julianne Hough on the "Rock of Ages" Set

Yes, that is a leather studded bum bag worn by Julianne Hough, one of the stars of ‘Rock of Ages’, behind the scenes of the film. Accessorising a denim skirt and cowboy boots, this is definitely 80s rock chick! And she’s not the only celeb to be rocking (get it!) this style – how about Rihanna?

She has definitely been influenced by the era’s fashion and has sported a tight perm, oversized blazers, high tops and even shell suit jackets in the past – a fanny pack seemed like the next step! Teamed with double denim, she looks casual, comfortable yet still fab! I’ve always been a bit unsure of the denim on denim look, but I really like this outfit!

However, this is the 80s we are talking about, so there should be some sort of cool, edgy gimmick…. enter Fydelity and their range of working speaker bags – including the bum bag!

These are the purple and pink varieties which were kindly sent to me from Truffle Shuffle. Simply plug in your MP3 player or iPod (after installing three AAA batteries) and you can listen to your favourite songs wherever you are; in the park, at the beach, at the gym, walking down the street – perfect for brightening this (so far, very dull) summer!

To be honest, I never, ever thought bum bags would come back in fashion but, judging by the hype that ‘Rock of Ages’ is generating, and by Rihanna pulling this look off effortlessly on several occasions, then it is bound to be a must-have accessory of the future – as well as the past!

For an authentic 80s style, wear statement leggings – an aztec or animal print perhaps – an oversized t-shirt, high-tops (which are going to be BIG this autumn/winter!) and a pair of sunglasses – how perfect for festivals?! Or, you can wear it like I wear mine, as a handy bag for jogging! Running whilst carrying house keys, my phone and a water bottle was very annoying, and so these bum bags were a life saver!

Win one of you very own! We’re giving you guys the chance to win a Fydelity Retro Boombox Bum bag in purple! Simply head over to my blog (The LC Issue), find the competition post and answer the simple retro question by leaving a comment. Easy peasy!

Click to enter!

Good luck everyone!
