DeLorean

Stop the press! We’ve just had some amazing news come though TruffleTowers which we are crying to share!
The super iconic car which was of course made famous in 80s cult classic Back To The Future will be getting a new lease of life as they are set to go into production once again for the first time in around a whopping 33 years. - feeling old now.

Following some recent changes to US law surrounding small scale car production, DeLorean Motor Company which now operates in Texas can now successfully switch from previously just restoring old models, to building this retro classic from new once again!

From our sources we can reveal that there are as of yet no plans to change the overall appearance which is SUUUUCH great news. Hopefully though their will perhaps fit it with some extra mod cons like air con and a flux capacitor or two. Is that really too much to ask now?

So all you Back To The Future fans! If you see one of these beauties parked up on your street sometime in 2017, either Marty is off on another adventure, or you have one of the coolest neighbours ever.

If, like us, the estimated $100,000 price tag is a little more than your pocket money can stretch to, why not pick up one of our super realistic Back To The Future Delorean models from only a fraction of the price at only £19.99….

So what do you think of this latest news? Would you love to own your very own? Let us know below.

Well! If our calculations are correct, this 80s hit and one of the most loved and infamous flicks ever will hit a cool 29 years old today….now just don’t we all feel old! eeeeek
.
Taking the world by storm today (in the US of A) back in 1985, this true 80s icon has become far more than just a film, it has become a movie empire sparking a whole generation of movie lovers to fall in love with McFly, the Doc and of course…the beloved DeLorean!
.
Marking an anniversary with BTTF is a tricky one. There has been a number of hoaxes over the years with dates changed and what not, but sadly the first date they travel to still hasn’t happened but it’s not far away!
With sooo many different dates being associated with these three films, we thought we would lay them out for all to see as well a remind ourselves of their travels and adventures along the way.
Take a look at some of the key moments in this hit film…

Oct. 25, 1985: This is the date on which the original Back to the Future film opens.

Oct. 26, 1985: The first leap in time only involves Doc’s dog, Einstein, traveling one minute ahead, from 1:21 AM on that date until 1:22 AM. Doc intends to travel to Oct. 26, 2010, but is gunned down before he gets the chance.

Nov. 5, 1955: Marty jumps in the DeLorean and travels back to this date — the date Doc first envisioned the flux capacitor — that Doc Brown had set it to when he was demonstrating how the time machine worked. Marty then spends one week in 1955, returning to the future on Nov. 12, 1955 at 10:04 PM.

Oct. 26, 1985: Marty, with the help of young Doc and a lightning strike, returns to the date he left, at 1:24 AM.

Oct. 21, 2015: Doc warns Marty that there are a few problems with his kids, so they must go to the future to correct a situation. Of note: The film Jaws 19 plays at the local movie theater. And the Chicago Cubs sweep Miami, whose logo is not a marlin but an alligator swinging a bat, to win the World Series.

Nov. 12, 1955: An old Biff Tannen, mortal enemy to the McFlys, steals the DeLorean to take the 1950-2000 Sports Almanac — that Marty bought for himself but Doc forbid — to his younger self in 1955.

PHEW! What an adventure. Ever wanted to see what all this time traveling action looked like laid out? Us neither until now but look what we found….
What better way to mark this amazing occasion than with some of our very own and oh-so exclusive Back To the Future T-Shirts inspired by the classic characters and tech. Take a look at some of our favourite designs…

Hello Truffle fans!

Ever wondered who decides what we sell? Who crafts our designs? Or even who is the person behind the warehouse Superhero title? Well this is your chance!

Always looking for new and exciting ways to give you guys as much behind the scenes peaks as possible including our Instagram (@truffleshufflecom) piccys, we’ve decided to go a whole hop, skip and a jump further and start up a little series of blog posts that each month will focus on a different member of the TruffleShuffle team, letting you know what they do, what makes them tick and what they’re loving right now!

Kicking things off in this the very first feature, we have Lucy……

What do you do here at Truffle Towers?
I’m  in charge of seeking out and getting our hands on all the retro goodies on the site! Also making sure we have plenty available for you lovely peeps to snap up.
.
How long have you been at TruffleShuffle?
I joined TS in October 2009 so it’s been about four and a half years which has really flown by!
.
What do you like most about working here / best thing about your job?
It’s fun! Every day there are plenty of giggles and hunting down cool, retro merchandise is pretty much a dream job!
.
What is your favourite tee current on the site?
My favourite t shirt changes on an almost daily basis as new designs are launched, but right now this classic Back to The Future poster tee is top of this list! I actually have this tee and love the looser fit, rolled sleeves and vintage print!
.
When you’re not at TruffleTowers, what do you like to do?
To wind down, a nice pint of real ale in a pub garden can’t really be beaten! I also love a good gig, in the last month I’ve seen Goldfrapp, Lee Scratch Perry and Benjamin Clementine which were all top notch and as Bristol is great for music in the summer, I’m looking forward to plenty more over the coming months too! To compensate for my guilty beer pleasure, I like to practice yoga and pilates and am going to attempt the Bath half marathon next year (eeek).
.
Name three things you like….
Lazy Sundays, Black and white movies, Fluffy cats
.
Name three things you don’t like….
Driving in the snow, Mushrooms, Amusement arcades
.
Favourite three films as a kid?
Karate Kid, The Land Before Time, Mannequin
.
Who is your idol?
I don’t really have an idol as such, but I do have an enthusiastic appreciation for Jarvis Cocker
.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to go to India, I think that would be a truly enlightening and magical experience.
.
Which iconic TV/Film car would you most like to own?
Probably the Delorean, that’s pretty cool!
.
What music are you listening to at the moment?
One of my most recent purchases, Mogwai’s new album, Rave Tapes is getting a lot of playing time at the moment. I’m also really loving the Africa Express, Maison Des Jeunes and Todd Terje’s It’s Album Time.
.
If you won the lottery, what would you do with the money?
The obvious charity, holiday, home, gifts for family and friends. I’d buy a campervan, travel around the countryside and head to some festivals. I’d buy a lovely home with a music studio and little workshop for some crafty sewing projects and a nice big garden to grow tasty vegetables and sneak in a little pizza oven too.
.
So there you have it folks! Stay tuned for plenty more staff insights and find out just who powers the TruffleShuffle machine.

See you next time with our next victim :)

Howdy TruffleShufflers! This week we found a cracking little Tumblr page from the very talented Darren Rawlins. He’s done a series of cartoons that takes the cars from some iconic retro shows and imagines what they’d look like as TRANSFORMERS!
Have a look at his work here…. darrenrawlings.tumblr.com whilst we run down our Top 5 Transformers from Retro Shows Inspired by Darren Rawlins!
.
1) First up, it’s a TruffleShuffle favourite, The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Party Wagon! Built by Donatello, this awesome van came with all kinds of handy accessories, including missiles, breakaway doors, a radio broadcaster and parts of it could even be used as a ramp to get the Turtles out of trouble! We think the Transformer version would be pretty badass, especially if it had a few karate lessons from Splinter!
2) In a close second, we just had to pick the Batmobile. It’s been through dozens of crazy incarnations and hosted a vast array of mental weaponry but Darren has opted for the red-detailed one from the 60s TV show and Tim Burton’s sleek 1989 entry. Now, the TV show Batmobile displayed more gadgets than you can shake a batarang at in its 2 year run on our screens, but Burton’s incarnation famously included grappling hooks to scale walls, a bulletproof finish and one stonking great afterburner at the back. That makes for one pretty terrifying Transformer if you ask us, let’s hope he’s not a Decepticon…
3) In every Transformer team there has to be a cocky young hotshot, breaking the rules and having a little too much fun for the serious guys to handle, we reckon that role would have to go to this wonderful Back to the Future inspired mechanical man. Rawlins has really captured the Marty McFly-ness you’d hope to see in the giant self-aware incarnation of his car, the time-travelling Delorean. I just hope his flux capacitor is safely tucked away!
4) And in at number four, we need a plucky foreigner to balance out the mix a little and this Akira-inspired racing bike Transformer fits the bill nicely. The sleek lines of Shotaru Kaneda’s racing bike make for one hardcore looking Autobot, with that cyberkinetic laser blaster, you definitely wouldn’t want to get in his way. Let’s just hope he doesn’t have the same anger management issues as Tetsuo or things could get very messy…
5) Now, this team of Autobots are going to need a villain to fight and we reckon Mr Rawlins has found a dark side to the usually helpful, charming, if a little conservative, KITT from Knight Rider. What do you reckon? With his trademark red LED eyes and all-black finish, he just looks so darn mean! Packing everything from a flamethrower to tear gas canisters, coupled with his super-intelligent AI microprocessors and turbo boosted engine, KITT would make one heck of a Decepticon! Though perhaps appearances are deceiving and under his bulletproof exterior lies the same old sensitive, lovable KITT we know and love… Yeah, that’s nicer. Let’s go with that.
What do you think Truffle fans? Did we leave anyone out? Do you think there’s another famous Autobot out there worthy of a place on our Celebrity Transformer Team? Who would you want fighting for the safety of mankind if the Decepticons turned up tomorrow?
.
Big thanks to Darren Rawlins for providing the inspiration for this blog, all images are copyrighted to him, check out his tumblr to see more of his retro-y cartoonish awesomeness.

And if your favourite show is on this list, why not head over to www.truffleshuffle.com to buy some cool tshirts to show off in the sunshine?

Kthxbai!
