The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 77!

Montgomery Burns! It's the Weekend!

So at the back of a bustling busy restaurant amongst stacks of dirty dishes and cutlery let us be your eager to please Kitchen hand, as we hold aloft our scrubbing brush of retro movie awesomeness, let us hose down mounds of crud covered pots with a jettison of cinematic greatness before we stand in awe at a glistening mountain of celluloid wonder.

SATURDAY 23rd NOVEMBER

Cocoon (1985) Film4  2:50pm-5:05pm (2 hours 15 minutes)

The elderly residents of a retirement home treat themselves to an occasional dip in the pool at an abandoned house. It turns out that friendly aliens in human form are using the place to restore dormant members of their species - and energy from their cocoons is giving the old-timers a new lease of life. Ron Howard's sci-fi drama, with Wilford Brimley, Jessica Tandy, Hume Cronyn, Don Ameche and Steve Guttenberg.

Hook (1991) Watch  3:10pm-6:00pm (2 hours 50 minutes)

Peter Pan, who has finally grown up and is now a married lawyer with a family of his own, is whisked away by Tinkerbell to Neverland, where he must learn to fly again if he is to save his children from the clutches of Captain Hook. Steven Spielberg's fantasy adventure, with Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins and Maggie Smith

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) ITV London  3:35pm-6:05pm (2 hours 30 minutes)

The rebel heroes set out to rescue Han Solo from the clutches of alien gangster Jabba the Hutt before preparing for a decisive attack on the evil Empire. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker faces a more personal battle in a final confrontation with Darth Vader that leads him to the inner sanctum of the Emperor himself. Conclusion of the sci-fi saga, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher

Meanwhile, the loot from a diamond heist goes missing, leading to bloody conflict between Russian gangsters and a Jewish mob. SUNDAY 24th NOVEMBER

Aliens arrive on Earth to abduct the Looney Tunes gang as a new attraction at their failing intergalactic theme park. To keep their freedom, Bugs Bunny and friends challenge the invaders to a high-stakes basketball game, calling on Michael Jordan to save the day and send the extraterrestrials back where they came from. Live action and animated comedy, starring Bill Murray and Danny DeVito, with the voices of Billy West and Bill Farmer

The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992) Film4  5:20pm-7:00pm (1 hour 40 minutes)

An embittered Victorian miser hates the festive season and people in general, but on Christmas Eve, the ghosts of his former business partners the Marley brothers visit him in the night. They warn him three spirits are coming to make him change his ways by showing him visions of the past, the present and what the future may hold. Comedy, with Michael Caine and Steven Mackintosh alongside the puppet characters.

Four soldiers are sent on a top secret mission in Iraq that results in them being imprisoned for a crime they did not commit. When they learn the culprit is trying to sell equipment for producing fake currency, they break out of prison to find him and the evidence of their innocence. Action adventure based on the 1980s TV series, with Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and Quinton `Rampage' Jackson.
