Doing our bit for charity…..

The TruffleShuffle team are taking part in our local Raft Race this weekend to help raise much needed funds for the RNLI Portishead Lifeboat .

Our MD’s son was the youngest person to have ever been rescued by the fantastic team of volunteers at just 6 weeks old so it’s a cause which is very close to our hearts. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, their lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved at least 140,000 lives and volunteers make up 95% of the charity, including 4,600 volunteer lifeboat crew members and 3,000 volunteer shore crew. The RNLI needs to raise a whopping £335,000 every day to run the 235 lifeboat stations and 163 lifeguarded beaches so we’re hoping to raise as much as possible to support this fantastic charity.

We’re going for a Goonies theme for our raft and are hoping to come up with something One Eyed Willie would be proud of (pics to follow soon!)

We’ll be battling our way across the lake and around the island to the finishing line and with prizes awarded for the winning rafts as well as the “Best Dressed Raft”, “Best Designed Raft” and “Most Sponsorship Raised”, we’ve gotta win something right? If not – our MD will be walking the plank!
