10 Things You [Probably] Didn't Know About…Disney's Frozen

It's sooooo nearly here! With the weather forecasts teasing us with the threat of snow, all us eager TruffleShufflers are dusting off our sleds, wellies and super thick socks in preparation for the fun and games that our favourite weather can bring, we've been looking for ways to get some of the icy stuff in our lives white we wait which has lead us to perhaps one of the biggest and best films surrounding our 'hot' topic, Frozen!

Since it first hit our screens back in 2013, Disney's Frozen has become something of a modern phenomenon with kids and big kids alike everywhere singing the soundtrack word for word. You know you can do it too! Wanting to know more about one of our Disney faves after our recent sing-along viewings, we thought we would dig up and share some cool facts about this icon. So sit back and enjoy our 10 Things You Didn't Know About… Frozen.

- Elsa is the only Disney princess who is NOT a teenager. Yep all the other princesses who are falling in love and running away are all in their teens. Elsa is 21.  - Side fact: Snow White is only 14!

- The plot for frozen was loosely based on a book called The Snow Queen written by Hans Christian Andersen. This adaptation was first put into development by Walt Disney way back in 1939. The characters names Hans, Kristoff, Anna, and Sven are a tribute to him.

- Oh that hair! Because of her braid, the films animators had to develop a program called Tonic just to animate Elsa's hair which also uses a whopping 420,000 CGI strands of hair!

- To create the amazing chemistry between the characters, the producers had Idina Menzel (Elsa) and Kristen Bell (Anna) read their lines together. Something which is rarely done with animated films.

- Spotted! Rapunzel and Flynn from Disney’s Tangled make a short cameo appearance at Elsa’s coronation. Look....

- Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was the Ice Palace! Fifty different animators worked on the scene where the Ice Palace was built. One frame of the scene took a cool 30 hours to render. Yeeeesh!

- When Anna sings “Love is an Open Door” with Prince Hans, it is the first time a Disney princess has ever performed a duet with a villain.

- Weirdly, Queen Elsa was originally supposed to be a villain. They later changed the story to make her misunderstood. Phew!

- To help make the characters actions as 'real' as possible, the animators would watch the voice actors perform and see how they moved and what expressions they made and copy them into the scene.

- Josh Gad improvised most of Olaf's lines to make the producers laugh. It worked.
