Getting Creative With Our Photography!

Recently we've been trying to push our photography skills here at Truffle Towers. Trying to push our abilities past the everyday standard product shots of our truly awesome tees and accessories to create something to inspire, interest and catch the eye of our much loved fans and customers.

It's turning out to be a very challenging process which feels quite alien to me and puts me on the spot each time forcing me to learning from each mistake so I thought I would share a few of my recent favourites with you.

I am given a brief of the products we want to feature and a few pictures of the type of shots we're looking to recreate and draw inspiration from and then off I go to shoot them! For a recent banner I needed a suitable model and decided our designer James was going to be perfect for the job!

My photo of James was then edited to use as Valentine's banner which is now on the site.

This is the studio where it all takes place!

Don’t be a Mug this Christmas

It's nearly the season of cheer and good will to all men so this Christmas why don't you help give someone you love the gift of tea.

It’s a fact that people like tea but end up having no choice but to drink it from bland old boring mugs.

What these people truly crave is to stand out from the crowd and be able to drink their favourite beverage in true retro style.

Here are some of my recommendations to help those people stuck in a bland mug world.

1. Tetris, one of the most recognisable games in gaming history, has millions of fans that will love this cool officially licensed Tetris Heat Change Mug. This stylish black mug features a snapshot of a Tetris game at the beginning of play when cold. Fill the mug with your choice of hot beverage and the face of the mug immediately changes to show the game in a much more advanced state of play. AWESOME!!!

2. Can you believe it, it's the 30th anniversary of the Rubik's Cube this year and what better way to celebrate than with this wickedly retro mug inspired of course by the fabulous toy! An awesomely old school find, this little treat is sure to bring back all those memories of frustration, joy and wonderment with every sip!

Obsessively Awesome or a Tat Too Far?

TMNT Krang Stomach Tattoo

I got sent this picture on Facebook the other day as I was wasting away my Sunday with the hope of someone turning up at my door with a hot Roast dinner in hand to cure my hangover.

It made me laugh as it's an awesome idea for a tattoo and in an absolutely perfect position but it got me thinking, just how far are my fellow tat fans prepared to go to show their love for their ultimate pop culture icons?

I didn't have to look hard - appears there are a whole host of fellow nostalgia fans out there who will go pretty damn far in their quest to show their appreciation for all things old school. Here's a few of my favourites.

Nintendo sleeve (plus Megatron!)

This full sleeve is made up mostly of Nintendo characters with Megatron randomly chucked in (apparently he was there before the owner of said tattoo decided to go all out with a full sleeve.) Not being a Mario fan as a kid, I guess I always wanted Megatron to turn up at Bowsers castle and show Mario how you start a ruckus so this definitely floats my boat.

The Curse of 27!

With the recent, tragic passing of Amy Winehouse, I'd like to shine a light upon the talent the musical world has lost to the so called "27 club"

Brian Jones - The Rolling Stones guitarist was found drowned in a swimming pool. A coroner's report explained the incident as 'death by misadventure'.

Jimi Hendrix - Pioneering guitarist Jimi Hendrix was a left handed guitarist who strung his right handed guitar backwards, playing it behind his head and even with his teeth at times. Whenever you air guitar, you are saluting this God of Rock. Jimi tragically died by asphyxiating on his own vomit. A well-known known drug addict, he had earlier combined sleeping pills with wine.

Janis Joplin - Songwriter Joplin died on October 4, 1970 from a heroin overdose. The raspy-voiced singer was called "probably the most powerful singer to emerge from the white rock movement in the sixties" by Time
