5 Reasons We Still Totally LOVE Labyrinth 30 Years On.

It's Labyrinth's 30th birthday and time to rejoice like the legendary David Bowie here!

Can you believe it? The fantasy cult classic that entranced us with its magical maze, wonderfully wacky puppets, ultra-80s soundtrack and the legendary David Bowie in *ahem* those tights (but more on him later) first graced the big screen all the way back in 1986 and it is still one of those precious films that stir up warm and fuzzy feelings of nostalgia. Here at TruffleTowers we may be a little older, a lot greyer and a whole heap wiser (ish), but we still love it – hey, maybe even more than back in the day! – so we felt it was only right to reflect on what makes this movie so magnificent.

So, without further ado, here are our 5 reasons why Labyrinth is still AH-mazing, 30 years on…

David Bowie's majestic presence...

Need we say more? Probably not, but we’re going to anyway. The hair. Those tights. That juggling ability (okay, it wasn’t actually him but we reckon he can pull it off with panache). Some SERIOUS swagger. Watching Labyrinth, we fear Bowie, but love him too (obvs) as he brings that unmistakable charisma to the role of Jareth the Goblin King. Who else could steal a baby, make a teenage girl tackle death defying traps (not to mention risk smelling hideous for all time!), attempt to possess her forever and STILL win us over? There were whispers that Prince, Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson were considered for the role in the early stages of production but we think it’s impossible to imagine anyone else doing it quite like Bowie.

Wacky! Fun! Crazy! It's outrageous! Fun house, a whole lot of fun!

Pretty much defining the 90s, Fun House was sooooo much more than just another kids TV Show. It was a place of dreams!

Rocking the airwaves from 1989 way up to 1999, Pat Sharp and his fab duo Melanie and Martina had us on the edge of our seats each week as they led two teams (team Red Vs team Yellow) through the games which included answering questions, finding items, dressing up and of course a lot of gunge! What more could you possibly want?! Oh yeah....and it had Go-Karts!!

Just like everyone we knew at school, we would have given our entire POG collection for a chance to be on this game show, mainly so we could grab some great prizes, race around the (pretty much walking pace) Grand Prix race track and above all else....get our very own Fun House TShirt! Maybe this was a sign for our future endeavours. Hmmmm....

Sadly, as this show is no longer running, the chances of us getting our hands on one of these iconic tees is pretty slim right? WRONG!

Captain America: Civil War Out This Week - Are You Ready??

Oh how our geeky senses are trembling! With the release of the action-packed new Captain America film Civil War just a few days away *eeeeeep!*, Truffle Towers is a buzz with anticipation of the epic new addition to our already quickly growing superhero movie faves and it's not hard to see why.

Packed with more superheroes than a kid's toy box, this amazing new adventure is sure to feed even the most hungry hero lover out there with amazing special effects, combat and some good old fashioned hero cheesiness. What's not to love right?

So what's it all about?

This big new adventure finds Captain America leading an Avengers team that includes Iron Man, Black Widow, Falcon, Winter Soldier, War Machine, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man and Spider-Man. Following a major attack which results in huge collateral damage and the loss of civilian lives, political pressure mounts as the government seeks more accountability and regulation on their actions.

This sparks a divide in the Avengers with The Captain seeking to remain free from such control and the usually wayward rogue Iron Man who believes the team should work with the officials. Members of the team pick a side and are forced to fight for what they believe. That can only go well...

See for yourself! Take a peep at this official trailer for a glimpse at the action....

10 Things You [Probably] Didn't Know About… David Bowie

Perhaps one of the most influential, interesting, iconic and talented people ever to hit the stage and screen, David Bowie was not only our childhood hero through the cult film Labyrinth, but also someone we have known and loved our entire lives for his simply genius music.

Always on the hunt for a good bit of tasty knowledge to sink our teeth into, we thought we would do some digging and pop together some cool facts we've recently learned about the legend himself. Sit back and enjoy our 10 Things You Didn't Know About David Bowie...

> His eyes are actually the same colour - Perhaps hard to believe we know, his eyes are the same colour, however after a fight as a kid his left eye was left permanently dilated which gives it the appearance of being darker.

> As impressive at it is, Bowie was in a total of 10 bands; The Hype, Tao Jones Index, Tin Machine, The Buzz, The Riot Squad, The King Bees, The Lower Third, The Manish Boys, The Konrads and The Hooker Brothers.

> He released the first downloadable single from a major artist - Back in 1996, Bowie released his single 'Telling Lies' on his website. Given the dial-up speeds back then this might have taken around 11 minutes to complete. How did we have the patience back then?? Well worth the wait though huh.
