The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown – 450

It's spooky time! With our vampire teeth in, hair slicked back and cape flapping around behind us (we're totally making sure it's flapping!), we're ready for a weekend of fun, food and a whole lot of fright!

Young Sherlock Holmes (1985) Film4 11:00am-1:15pm

The teenage detective and his future sidekick Watson meet for the first time at boarding school. The death of Holmes's mentor sets the youngsters on their first case, and they discover that former members of an archaeological survey team have died under suspicious circumstances - pointing to a sinister Egyptian cult using hallucinogenic poisons to kill its victims. Adventure, starring Nicholas Rowe, Alan Cox and Sophie Ward.

Flight of the Navigator (1986) Film4 1:15pm-3:00pm

A boy mysteriously disappears in 1978 and is found eight years later, having not aged a day. He escapes being experimented on by government scientists by taking off in a crashed alien spaceship. With the help of the robot pilot, he tries to find out what has happened to him and if he can get back home. Sci-fi adventure, starring Joey Cramer and Veronica Cartwright, with the voice of Paul Reubens.

James Bond's investigations into the mysterious disappearance of a space shuttle lead him to a sinister industrialist, who is plotting to wipe out most of the human race. A doting dad is taken aback when his daughter announces she is getting married, and is thrown into a whirlwind of increasingly complicated wedding plans, a struggle to live up to the expectations of his wealthy future in-laws and the sad realisation that his little girl has grown up. A remake of the 1950s comedy, with Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams and Martin Short.

Homer unwittingly pollutes Lake Springfield, so the US government decides to isolate the city underneath a giant dome. The Simpsons manage to escape and plan to start a new life in Alaska - but learn Springfield is about to be destroyed, and return to save their friends. A woman and her daughter move to a sleepy French village in 1959 and brazenly open a chocolate shop directly opposite the Catholic parish church during Lent. At first, the locals are enraged and appalled, but her confections soon raise spirits in the community, especially among the wives. Drama adapted from Joanne Harris's novel, with Juliette Binoche, Johnny Depp, Alfred Molina and Judi Dench.
