Our Top Batman Gadgets We’d Love to Own

As lovers of everything Batman, one thing that always makes us fall just that little bit extra in love with the caped crusader is his impressive arsenal of gadgets!

Whether he’s getting himself out of trouble or taking down the latest villains, Batman always surprises us with his latest top-of-the-range cutting edge gadget that are the perfect tools for the job of protecting Gotham City.
As a bit of fun and to help remind ourselves and you guys of the impressive collection, we thought we would rustle up a little shortlist of some of our personal favourites that we would love to own for every day (maybe not everyday then) life. Take a look….

Grapple Gun

Originally debuted on the silver screen in 1989’s Batman, the grapple gun has certainly taken Batman out of some sticky situations as well as keeping him on the tails of those pesky baddies. Essentially a spring loaded hook attached to some special ultra thin, ultra strong wire to keep everything nice and compact, it can be launched anywhere and will pull you up and away out of danger.

Why do we want this? Well, imagine this…walking down the street and spot someone you’d rather not speak to…fire and away you go until the coast it clear. Social bliss! Plus it beast walking up flights of stairs huh.

Heel Propellers

Perhaps one of his lesser known gadgets and only really seen in the comic series, essentially heel propellers are just that….special propellers built into his boots. Could you really imagine batman floundering around in the water with a full suit on? Na!

Why do we want this? Two reasons mainly…swimming is hard, tiring and well for us at least, slow. Secondly, FUN! How much fun would it be to effortlessly whizz around in the water with some of these?? Enough said.

Shark Spray

Fans of the classic Batman films will know this one! Who could forget that classic tension building sequence from BATMAN: THE MOVIE, in which Adam West has a ‘slightly less than real’  shark attached to his leg and punching it just won’t do, so Robin must leave the helicopter on auto-pilot and scale the ladder to pass him (upside down) his shark repellent bat spray. Impressive stuff! If you haven’t yet seen this clip, a little YouTube search is a MUST!

Why do we want this? To be perfectly honest, we doubt it would come in much use in our typical day, but who knows where our heel propellers could take us! Mostly it would be bragging rights for down the local really.

Possibly one of the coolest cars ever to hit the silver screens, the legendary Batmobile is one of the most ultimate cars. It can go everywhere, do everything and is about as subtle as a sucker-punch to a lions face…if you get the message. While there have been a few versions of this ultimate gadget, the latest edition is about as functional as they come and would be our pick of the pack.

Why do we want this? Easy one! Wherever you want to go, whatever the situation, this thing will take it on with east. No one will dream of cutting you up on your daily commute will they? Probably gets good MPG too…. okay maybe not.

Memory Fiber Bat Cape

First seen in Batman Begins, when Batman charges his cape with an electric current, the material becomes rigid and takes on a shape mimicking bat wings. He can then use his cape like a glider and, next to his grappling hook, it’s the closest he comes to actually flying. Not only does this thing look cool, but it means you can fly….or maybe just fall with a lot more style perhaps.

Why do we want this? Ever find yourself stuck at the top of a building with no way of getting off? Nor us BUT if you ever did this would be the perfect thing. Would also make any fancy dress party and easy choice at least.

That’s all folks, what gadgets would you most like to own? Let us know with a comment below.

Guest Post! The Caped Crusader: Yep it’s Batman…

I was VERY tempted to name this blog post  “na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na naaa Batman!” because as you have probably realised by now that’s how mature I am. But there’s something about superheroes such as Batman that bring out that childish side to you. We all know that the idea of a man getting superpowers after being bitten by a radioactive spider or a man going around dressed as a bat is quite ridiculous yet we’re still enticed and get stupidly excited about this fantasy world.

Perfect example of this is of course ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ which is the third and final instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy.

I’ve never seen so many people- of all ages-get so excited by one film. It is definitely a buzz that only certain movies bring. After all, superheroes are amazing. Growing up I used to love watching superhero films such as Superman and Batman. Even TV series such as Wonder Woman and don’t laugh…Captain Planet.

Batman is the one superhero that really takes me back to my childhood. Forget the films; I always preferred Adam West and Burt Ward as the Dynamic Duo in the TV series. I can remember watching the TV series during our summer holidays on Channel 4 around 1.30pm! At the time they were so gripping and totally believable. I never questioned the convenient gadgets (there are 100 flights of stairs and the lifts not working…oh wait we can use the Batjet which is conveniently placed in the Batmobile) or the fact that nobody could tell that it was Bruce Wayne as Batman.  Who can forget the “Bam! Crash! Wallops!”?

It was this cheesy side of Batman that I preferred growing up and despite watching most of the Batman films my allegiance was always to the 1960’s caped crusader. But then Christian Bale happened.
Man he’s beautiful. But forget his beautiful face for a second if you can…it was his dark and suave Batman that got me gripped. Christopher Nolan’s Batman was a far cry from the ones I was used to- and I liked it!

So last week, I too was stupidly excited for the release of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. With the day off from work, I managed to watch it before my friends who are die-hard Batman fans. Ha!

Without spoiling the film for those of you who haven’t seen it, it was amazing. I think the words “Oh Em Gee!” really sum it up.

After watching the film, all I wanted to do was put on a mask and go fight crime. But I sort of chickened out. So instead I put on a TruffleShuffle tee and just pretended I was Batman. Safer that way really…

As we’ve finally got a bit of sunshine, I wore my AWESOME Junk Food slouchy Batman t-shirt with some vintage denim shorts, spotty tights and hi top trainers. Not forgetting my aviators for the sunshiiine.

When I first got my latest Junk Food t-shirt (sized Medium) I thought woah this is big but once worn it looked fine as it’s meant to be slouchy. Perfect for when the weather is like this as its more comfortable and cooler.

Obviously being me, I couldn’t resist putting on a makeshift cape and pretending to be Batman. So mature Sunny, so mature.

I think this is the reason I’m not featured on the ‘cool’ blogger lists haha. But hey that’s the beauty of Truffleshuffle t-shirts. You get to relive your childhood and bring out that fun side of you! Who wants to be a bore!? Not me.

And if you’re not a fan of Batman *disappointed face* then there are loads of tees available that you could look cool in. I’ve got my eyes on the new Rocky t-shirts (yo Adrian!) as well as the Big Bang Theory T-shirts (Bazinga).

But for now, I’ve got a city to protect from crime and injustice. Ahem…

Batman’s Run in with the Law

‘Holy Cow!’ even Batman can get pulled over by the cops while he’s off to saving the world in his Batmobile! Well almost.

Swapping the legendary Batmobile this time for an equally flashy convertible Lamborghini, this caped crusader has hit cyberspace is week thwhen he was recently spotted being pulled over by police during a recent peace keeping outing in Maryland USA.

What a legend! Take a look…

The story is that this anonymous and wealthy philanthropist likes to dress up as Batman and give sick kids in the hospital special visits, when he’s not fighting crime and cleaning up the streets that is!

Apprently all it takes to stop one man and his mission to help save the city is having a wrong numberplate. Somehow we get the feeling that the police where slightly less interested in the numberplate than getting to meet a real life hero.

Fancy getting in on some crime fighting action? Check out our fab range of Batman T-Shirts from only £19.99!
