The plucky talking mouse feels left out when the son of his adopted human family makes a new pal - but quickly forgets such trifling matters when his high-flying canary friend is captured by an evil falcon, prompting the brave rodent to mount a daring rescue. Family adventure sequel, with Geena Davis, Hugh Laurie and Jonathan Lipnicki, and the voices of Michael J Fox, Melanie Griffith and James Woods.

A charismatic English teacher at a New England prep school in the 1950s raises eyebrows among his strait-laced colleagues by encouraging the students to live a life beyond their expectations. Unfortunately, the boys find their families and the rest of the teaching staff are not so understanding about their desire to follow their dreams. Peter Weir's drama, starring Robin Williams, Robert Sean Leonard, Ethan Hawke, Josh Charles and Gale Hansen.

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) Channel 5 1:55pm-4:55pm

English nobleman Robin of Locksley returns home from fighting in the Crusades, only to discover that his father has been murdered and his lands seized, while the local people are living in fear under the tyrannical rule of the Sheriff of Nottingham. Branded an outlaw for his defiance, he and his Moorish travelling companion go into hiding in the forest, where they recruit a group of bandits to fight for justice, protect the downtrodden, and foil the Sheriff's plan to seize the throne while the king is away at war. We'll folks, we've pretty much made it and no doubt you will have already started on some form of festivities (we sure have!).

Christmas Eve

A doctor is stunned to discover he can talk to animals, and it is not long before his home and surgery are taken over by an assortment of ailing creatures in need of help. However, when the medic's odd behaviour attracts his colleagues' attention, he is forced to rely on his new-found furry friends to save him from the asylum. How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) ITV 12:40pm-2:40pm

A little girl residing in the Christmas-obsessed town of Whoville becomes fascinated with a grouchy creature living in the mountains. But her efforts to make him part of their celebrations leave him more bitter than ever, and he resolves to ruin the festive season. Fantasy comedy, based on Dr Seuss's children's book, with Jim Carrey, Taylor Momsen, Jeffrey Tambor and Molly Shannon. Anthony Hopkins narrates.

The Weekly Retro Movie Rundown 279

Knock knock, who's there? Retro. Retro who? Retro movie weekend that who! (okay terrible we know).

Swinging it's way towards us like a Howler monkey in the jungle dancing from tree to tree, another retro movie weekend has appeared and is bearing a whole host of movie fruits for us to snack on over the next few says. Some sweet, some tough and other that just slip down almost far to easy. Let's take a look at what we've got!

Herman’s Hermits! It must be the weekend!

So under a rung of gently flickering fluorescent lights, inside a heaving family packed restaurant, at the back of a cue for an all you can eat buffet. Let us be your medically obese, adolescent male, adorned in button up stripy shirt and stretchy sweatpants as we prepare to load our plate with a heap of steaming retro movie magic. We'll pile on gallons of cinematic awesomeness before we wedge ourselves ever so uncomfortably into our seat and devour the celluloid wonder....Burp!!
