Lost in Space (1998) 5STAR 11:55am-2:35pm
A pioneering scientist takes his family out into space to colonise another planet. However, a saboteur has infiltrated their craft, and his meddling leaves them stranded in unknown territory on the other side of the galaxy. Sci-fi adventure based on the 1960s TV show, starring William Hurt, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, Mimi Rogers and Heather Graham.

A teenager wishes her baby brother would be taken away, only to have her request granted by a band of goblins and their sinister king. She regrets her decision and sets out to rescue him, but to reach the castle where he is being held, she must find her way through a magical maze full of strange creatures. Jim Henson's fantasy adventure, starring Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie.
Smokey and the Bandit II (1980) Paramount Network 2:35pm-4:40pm
The maverick haulier must overcome a crisis of confidence when he and his friends are hired to transport a pregnant elephant to Texas, a mammoth task that proves far from easy, especially with their old enemy in hot pursuit. Road comedy, with Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Reed, Dom DeLuise and Sally Field.

A leaky boat leaves the precocious youngsters stranded on a jungle island, but their luck changes when explorers the Wild Thornberrys come to their rescue. However, Thornberry dad Nigel loses his memory, so it falls to his daughter Eliza to save the day. Children's animated adventure, with the voices of Nancy Cartwright, Bruce Willis, Lacey Chabert, Elizabeth Daily and Tim Curry.

An expedition to find King Solomon's diamond mines in the jungles of the Congo disappears without a trace. The tycoon behind the mission sends his assistant, a former CIA agent, to find out what became of the explorers - only to discover that the party met a grisly fate at the hands of a horde of vicious apes. Action-adventure based on Michael Crichton's novel, with Dylan Walsh, Laura Linney, Tim Curry and Grant Heslov.

A girl grows up in 16th-century Europe under the iron fist of her stepmother, until the love of handsome Prince Henry offers a glimmer of hope. Unfortunately, the royal gent has worries of his own in the shape of an arranged marriage. Luckily, Renaissance genius Leonardo da Vinci is on hand to play fairy godfather and bring the pair together. Romantic drama, starring Drew Barrymore, Anjelica Huston, Dougray Scott and Timothy West.

So like a mid eighteenth century Whaling vessel let us be your sea hardened, weather beaten, bearded captain with a stern but fair persona. As we sail hard heartedly across vast oceans of retro movie mayhem, we'll peer one eyed through our brass telescope for the elusive humped back of cinematic greatness before we thrust our long and rusty harpoons into the salty meaty flesh of celluloid wonder.
