SATURDAY 26th June

Thunderbirds Are Go! (1966) Film4 12:50pm-2:40pm
International Rescue is called in to save the first manned space mission to Mars from sinister hijacker The Hood, and ensure a second attempt goes to plan. Puppet adventure based on Gerry Anderson’s TV series, featuring the voices of Shane Rimmer, Ray Barrett, Alexander Davion, Peter Dyneley, Sylvia Anderson and Cliff Richard, voicing a puppet version of himself.

The Next Karate Kid (1994) Film4 4:30pm-6:45pm
Wise karate mentor Mr Miyagi meets the orphaned teenage granddaughter of a soldier who once saved his life. As well as guiding her through the trials of high school and her first romance, he takes her to a Zen monastery to hone her martial arts skills. Adventure sequel, starring Pat Morita, Hilary Swank, Michael Ironside and Constance Towers.

FRIDAY 2nd April

The Karate Kid (1984) Sony Movies 9:10am-11:40am
A teenager at a new school befriends a pretty girl, but her ex-boyfriend is jealous and attacks him. During one particularly bad fight, a wise old caretaker intervenes and defeats the youngster’s assailants using his martial art skills. He goes on to mentor the boy and teaches him karate so he can face his enemies in a tournament. Drama, with Ralph Macchio, Pat Morita and Elisabeth Shue.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) ITV2 9:55am-12:15pm
Penniless Charlie Bucket is one of five lucky children who find a golden ticket in a chocolate bar, winning a once-in-a-lifetime tour of eccentric recluse Willy Wonka’s magical sweet company. Unfortunately, the other winners each face a grim fate when they start to misbehave. Tim Burton’s children’s fantasy, based on Roald Dahl’s novel, starring Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore, Helena Bonham Carter, and Deep Roy playing all the Oompa Loompas.

A leaky boat leaves the precocious youngsters stranded on a jungle island, but their luck changes when explorers the Wild Thornberrys come to their rescue. However, Thornberry dad Nigel loses his memory, so it falls to his daughter Eliza to save the day. Children’s animated adventure, with the voices of Nancy Cartwright, Bruce Willis, Lacey Chabert, Elizabeth Daily and Tim Curry.

An expedition to find King Solomon’s diamond mines in the jungles of the Congo disappears without a trace.
