20 Ways You Know You're an 80s Baby...

Growing up in the 80s/90s was the best! Everything was simple and fun, life wasn't too serious and being cool was actually a thing that people could be. With no mobile phones or amazing internet to keep us busy we had to make our own fun, which typically meant heading to the park or a friend's house, to see who was out or in so we could get them out!

Being surrounded by soooo many amazing 80s T-Shirts, it feels like we are always on a retro nostalgia trip here. Thinking back over some of our best childhood memories, we decided to put them all together and create our ultimate list of what it meant to be growing up at this special time.

Pack your bags folks! We're taking a short trip down memory lane, likely to include a healthy mix of nostalgia, perhaps a few painful memories and of course as much 8O's awesomeness as we can carry! Sit back and enjoy our top 20 Ways -  You Know You're an 80s Baby if....

1. You still think ten years ago was in the 90s...

...Saturday mornings were spent watching Going Live, wishing you had your own Gordon the Gopher.

Top Cartoon Voices - Who are they?

Are you an animaniac? Crazy for cartoons? Well you probably have a great collection of Cartoon T-Shirts already (if not, why not?) but have you ever really thought about some of the voices behind your favourite animated characters?

Me neither, so I set off in search of some of my favourite characters and voices. Here's what I found....

Grandpa Huxtable was a Thundercat!

Between 1984 & 1992, Earle Hyman played Grandpa Russell Huxtable in The Cosby Show. Despite being a trombone playing, Hillman College graduate and a really bad buyer of sweaters in this popular sitcom he was also moonlighting as a humanoid warrior feline from outer space, Panthro.

Panthro was the resident mechanic in the cartoon Thundercats and was also the least clothed member after Snarf.

The Good Old TV Times!

Led on your belly with head on hands, in front of a faux wooden box on top an oak cabinet, eyes as wide as saucers glued awaiting the evening’s entertainment! Four channels is all we had and even so we’d only watch two of them.

Being the youngest, the family hierarchy dictates that you be the remote control. Dad would direct you to the channel to switch as you stodgily walk on knees to the big brown box. After a while you’d try and tempt fate by switching channels whilst dad was sleeping only to hear a muffled but firm "I was watching that"! Then you’d rush back to your spot on the sofa trying whole heartedly to blame your older sister only to get the evil eye off both off them.

Sure we were telly addicts but who wasn't?

Straight home from school the big brown box would be glowing with luminescent joy and we’d watch, Thundercats, Masters of the Universe, Inspector Gadget, Danger Mouse, Bugs Bunny on Rolf's Cartoon Club, Happy Days, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air and just before bedtime Only Fools and Horses and Cheers.

The theme music to Poirot and Lovejoy still send shivers down my spine and give me that queasy “I have school tomorrow” feeling and have most likely forgotten any homework I had and do I have P.E?

On the bright side here’s a few T.V. themes to get you through the day so you don't have to think about school and hey we're grownups now and we never have to go to school ever again :-)
