From Romance to Bromance - TruffleShuffle's Got It Covered This Valentine's!

TruffleShuffle's one stop guide to movies on the box this Valentine’s day!

So if all’s gone to plan Casanova has swept you off your feet or Prince Charming has melted your heart to a cheesy fondue like substance! You may have received acres of roses, masses of heart shaped chocolates or you were lucky your bloke remembered and made that last minute dash to the petrol station and got you something meaningful and romantic like a rose scented magic tree for your car (hey I try!)

Or maybe you don’t  believe in  Valentine's day at all and you’ll ignore everything going on around you because it’s a scam made up by  corporate fat cats and big wigs to get you to waste money on rubbish that’s going to end up in the bin anyway. Whichever category you fall in to I’ll do my best for you if you’re spending Valentine's night in alone or with your partner.

I’ll start with the two most romantic movies on tonight.

First up a film I’ve not seen (it sounds a bit slushy!) “You’ve got mail” ITV2 7.30pm - two rivals in a bookshop business fall in love over the internet, unaware they know and dislike each other in the real world. With Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. It’s most likely to be like “Sleepless in Seattle” but then I’ve never seen that either (most definitely slushy!) I can however quote Joey from Friends and say “Meg Ryan get’s mail and stuff”.

Tom Cruise on board for Top Gun sequel - Yes!

Rumours have been circulting for a while now about the possibility of a follow up to the frankly legendary Top Gun movie but now Tom Cruise has confirmed that he will be taking part, our excitement levels have gone through the roof.

The Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film, which also starred Kelly McGillis and Val Kilmer, was nominated for four Oscars and won the best song Academy Award for Take My Breath Away is definitely a big favourite both at Truffle Towers and with our lovely customers as our exclusive range of Top Gun tees are always up there in our bestseller lists.

"I hope we can figure this out to do it again," said Cruise to MTV, regarding the Tony Scott directed movie. "I said to Tony, I want to make another movie with him. He and I haven't made a film since Days Of Thunder."

"Tony and I and Jerry, we never thought that we would do it again. Then they started to come to us with these ideas and I thought, wow, that would be what we could do now," added Cruise.

He was however careful not to reveal too much about his character's future exploits although it's rumoured that the new film will see Maverick return as flying instructor.

"We all want to make a film that is in the same kind of tone as the other one and shoot it in the same way as we shot Top Gun," said Cruise.

I Feel The Need, The Need For Speed In 3D!!

If TruffleShuffle.com wasn't named after the dance Chunk does in The Goonies movie it would probably be called Great Balls Of Fire or something to do with Top Gun! Us Trufflers are huge 80's movies fans and so of course we were massively excited to hear about Top Gun being re-released in 3D.

So Maverick and Goose are getting ready to enter the danger zone once again with the added bonus of 3D. The company responsible for the remake are Legend3D and they have been busy at work converting the film for an early 2012 release however there hasn't been an official announcement by Paramount yet. According to Legend3D's CEO they want to get director Tony Scotts approval first, we do hope he likes it!

Just think - Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, Kelly McGillis and the gang in 3 dimension, that fly by scene is going to be A-maz-ing!!

If Top Gun isn't your cup of tea then perhaps you might favour one of the other classic films getting the 3D re-release treatment with the Lion King out now and George Lucas planning to release ALL THE STAR WARS FILMS over the next couple of years!

What do you think? An opportunity to see the iconic film again on the big screen, another staff night out to be planned we think!
