The weekly retro movie rundown!

Week 2 of the movie rundown and Friday seemed to have nothing on at all :-(

That said Saturday and Sunday make up for it with some proper corkers, I hope you agree. Read on for my rundown of the movies you just can't miss on the box this weekend.

SATURDAY 21st APRIL

Beetlejuice (1988) Channel 5 5:30pm-7:15pm

Recently deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland enlist the professional services of a hard-boiled veteran ghost to scare away the obnoxious yuppie family who have moved into their former home. Tim Burton's supernatural comedy, starring Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder, Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara.

Jurasic Park III ITV2 5:40pm-7:25pm

Palaeontologist Dr Alan Grant is lured to a dinosaur infested island by a divorced couple who offer to fund his research unaware their real motive is to find their missing son and that the creatures on the island are far more intelligent than anyone suspected, action adventure sequel starring Sam Neil, William H Macy, Tea Leoni and Alessandro Nivola.

Mallrats (1995) Dave 9:00pm-11:00pm

Two slackers head for the local shopping centre to get over being dumped by their girlfriends - only to find their troubles are far from over. Undaunted, they plot to get even on those who have wronged them and win back the girls. Kevin Smith's comedy, starring Jason Lee, Jeremy London, Shannen Doherty, Claire Forlani and Ben Affleck, with Jason Mewes and Smith himself as their recurring characters Jay and Silent Bob.

Home Alone (1990) Film4 1:00pm-3:00pm

A boy has to fend for himself when he is accidentally left behind after his family jets off to Paris for Christmas. The youngster initially enjoys his freedom, but is soon forced to resort to ingenious booby traps to defend the family home from two dim-witted burglars. Comedy, starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, Catherine O'Hara and John Candy

Top Gun Chanel 4 11:20pm-1:25am

An arrogant pilots maverick flying skills earn him a place in an elite US Navy school where he comes into conflict with a fellow student and falls for his civilian instructor. A tragedy in the air threatens to end his military career until an international incident offers him a chance to redeem himself. Aerial action adventure, Starring Tom Cruise, Kelly McGillis, Val Kiler.

SUNDAY 22nd APRIL

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) ITV3 6:00pm-8:00pm

An eccentric confectionery king announces that five children will be given a tour of his wondrous factory. The winners turn out to be a kind-hearted boy from a penniless family and four obnoxious brats, who face a terrible fate when they misbehave. Musical fantasy, based on Roald Dahl's classic children's book, starring Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson, Peter Ostrum and Roy Kinnear.

Back To The Future Part II (1989) ITV2 6:50pm-9:00pm

Time-travelling teenager Marty McFly travels to the 21st century, where he has to save his children from a terrible fate. However, this proves to have unforeseen consequences when the future version of arch enemy Biff sees a chance to rewrite history for his own benefit, leaving Marty stuck in a twisted parallel universe. Sci-fi comedy sequel, starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

Edward Scissorhands E4 6:55pm-9:pm

A reclusive genius creates a boy but dies before completing him leaving his brainchild with scissor like blades in place of hands. A kindly woman from a near by suburb takes pity on the lonely boy and welcomes him into her home. He quickly becomes a hit in the neighborhood but then his new friends start to turn against him. Tim Burtons Fantasy, Starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne West and Vincent Price.

Crocodile Dundee II (1988) Film4 1:00pm-3:10pm

The rugged Australian adventurer sets out to save his reporter girlfriend from New York drug dealers. Having rescued her from their clutches, he realises they will soon be coming after him - so he decides to even the odds by luring them to the Outback for a final showdown. Comedy adventure sequel, starring Paul Hogan, Linda Kozlowski, John Meillon and Charles S Dutton.
