Ferris Bueller's Day Off Turns 30! But Where Are They Now?

Well would you believe it! John Hughes’ comedy classic Ferris Bueller's Day Off first hit the big screens a cool 30 years ago today! - okay okay we get it! We're old now...

As you might have spotted before, we're pretty big fans of this retro classic, I mean.....what's not to love? Surely there's a Ferris Bueller deep down in all of us who just wants to forget what they HAVE to do and just embrace what they WANT to do. Okay maybe living like this does come with some drawbacks....wrecking a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder for one, but growing up we would have loved nothing more than to skip school and have our very own adventure.

Now with this being such a retro classic AND the fact it's celebrating a pretty milestone 30 years birthday, we thought it was about time we took a few moments to catch up with some of the stars of the hit film and see what they've been up to since and what they're doing now.

So! Take a peep below and check out our Ferris Bueller's Day Off Where Are They Now? Enjoy!

Matthew Broderick (Ferris Bueller)

Certainly one of THEEE movie poster boys of the 80s and 90s, Broderick not only played our hero Ferris in this comedy classic, but also starred in WarGames (1983), Family Business (1989), Glory (1989), The Lion King (1994), Inspector Gadget (1999) and more. He has also appeared in musicals and other theatre productions as well as occasional TV appearances including 30 Rock and one of our faves Modern Family.

Marrying fellow movie star Sarah Jessica Parker back in 1997, the pair have three children. In his latest work, Matthew stars as Levar Mathis in upcoming rom-com Rules Don't Apply due to be released in November this year.

Alan Ruck (Cameron Frye)

Now it's petty much impossible to think about Ferris Bueller's Day Off without the trials and tribulations of Cameron. As Ferris begins to unwind his mind from it's tight grip and fear of his father, im sure we all can relate to Cameron at some point as he faces the choices between what he should do and what he can do for fun. Starring in many other films including Speed (1994), Star Trek: Generations

( 1994),  Cheaper by the Dozen (2004), as well as countless TV appearances prominently as Stuart Bondek on ‘Spin City’. Busy boy!

Like Broderick, Ruck is also an accomplished stage actor work in some amazing productions including The Producers (2001) and Absurd Person Singular (2005).

His latest work includes a role in Brad Pitt film War Machine which is out later this year.

Mia Sara (Sloane Peterson)

Having a pretty big breakthrough moment playing Princess Lili in Legend (the one with Tom Cruise) which ultimately landed her the role in Ferris, Mia has played in a number of movies and TV series mainly through the 90s. Not one for falling for just any old guy, Mia married Sean Connery's son Jason back in 1996 with whom she had a child. She is now married to Brian Henson, who is the oldest son of Muppets creator Jim Henson and they have one daughter.

Her most recent work includes playing Princess Langwidere in Dorothy and the Witches of Oz (2012) and a short Pretty Pretty back in 2013.

Jennifer Grey (Jeanie Bueller)

The year after Ferris Bueller, Jennifer was reunited with Patrick Swayze, with whom she had played opposite in Red Dawn (1984), to play "Baby" in possible one the most iconic films ever....Dirty Dancing. Pretty much the film that defined her career, her performance nabbed her a nomination for a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Working predominantly on TV in either series or movies, Jennifer's most recent work includes playing Judy in TV series Red Oaks, and voice work in upcoming animation Duck Duck Goose.

There you have them folks! We loved catching up with these amazing people and it's always good to see the people behind the characters too.
