With time seemingly standing still white moving quicker than ever, it's time to catch a moment and sit down and enjoy some total movie gems. Plenty to keep you busy when things are quiet.

SATURDAY 28th November

The Next Karate Kid (1994) 5STAR 2:50pm-5:05pm

Wise karate mentor Mr Miyagi meets the orphaned teenage grand-daughter of a soldier who once saved his life. As well as guiding her through the trials of high school and her first romance, he takes her to a Zen monastery to hone her martial arts skills. Adventure sequel, starring Pat Morita, Hilary Swank, Michael Ironside and Constance Towers.

Crocodile Dundee II (1988) Film4 4:45pm-6:55pm

The rugged Australian adventurer sets out to save his reporter girlfriend from New York drug dealers. Having rescued her from their clutches, he realises they will soon be coming after him - so he decides to even the odds by luring them to the Outback for a final showdown. Comedy adventure sequel, starring Paul Hogan, Linda Kozlowski, John Meillon and Charles S Dutton.

Back to the Future Part II (1989) ITV2 5:15pm-7:25pm

Time-travelling teenager Marty McFly travels to the 21st century, where he has to save his children from a terrible fate. However, this proves to have unforeseen consequences when the future version of arch enemy Biff sees a chance to rewrite history for his own benefit, leaving Marty stuck in a twisted parallel universe. Sci-fi comedy sequel, starring Michael J Fox and Christopher Lloyd.

A couple dealing with financial difficulties are approached by a billionaire, who offers them $1million in return for one night with the wife. They accept the deal, but the husband's suspicions after the event threaten to tear their relationship apart. Adrian Lyne's drama, starring Robert Redford, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Oliver Platt and Billy Bob Thornton.

The Last Samurai (2003) 5STAR 9:00pm-12:10am

The emperor of Japan recruits an American Civil War veteran to train his troops in a bid to wipe out a rebel faction of samurai warriors. The soldier is taken captive when the imperial army is defeated and comes to respect his enemies' traditions and code of honour, finally going over to their side. Historical adventure, starring Tom Cruise, Ken Watanabe, Timothy Spall, Billy Connolly and Shichinosuke Nakamura.

Manhunter (1986) ITV4 11:00pm-1:25am

A former FBI agent is coaxed out of retirement to track down a serial killer behind the slaughter of entire families. The detective needs an angle on the murderer's psychology and the only way to get this insight is to face his nightmares and consult cannibalistic psychopath Dr Hannibal Lecktor in prison. Michael Mann's thriller, based on Thomas Harris's novel Red Dragon, with William Petersen, Dennis Farina, Tom Noonan, Brian Cox and Joan Allen.

Kindergarten Cop (1990) ITV 1:30pm-3:35pm

A tough detective is forced to pose as a preschool teacher in a bid to capture a drug dealer whose son is one of the pupils. However, his biggest challenge turns out to be controlling a class full of five-year-olds. Comedy, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Penelope Ann Miller, Linda Hunt, Pamela Reed and Richard Tyson.

Three mismatched prehistoric animals join forces to return a human infant to its tribe - but as their journey unfolds, the creatures fail to anticipate the many perils and pitfalls that lay in store for them. First Knight (1995) Paramount Network 6:25pm-9:00pm

A wandering swordsman is knighted for his fighting prowess at the court of King Arthur and his wife, Lady Guinevere. However, the new knight and the queen develop a dangerous and secret attraction for each other, while a neighbouring warlord threatens the downfall of the kingdom. Adventure, starring Richard Gere, Sean Connery, Julia Ormond and Ben Cross.

Time-travelling teenager Marty McFly is transported back to the days of the Wild West, where he strives to save his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown from death at the hands of a villainous gunslinger. The final instalment in the sci-fi comedy trilogy, starring Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Mary Steenburgen and Thomas F Wilson.

An arms industry executive is placed in danger after she exposes evidence of illegal deals by an international corporation. The authorities respond by assigning her to the custody of a government agent who specialises in helping federal witnesses disappear from the system. However, when the operative is framed for murder, he is forced to balance his duties with efforts to clear his own name. Action thriller, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, James Caan, Vanessa L Williams and James Coburn.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) E4 9:00pm-12:05am

The party of dwarves and their hobbit ally continue the quest to reclaim their lost kingdom, journeying through the forest home of the ancestral enemy the elves and finally facing the dragon that drove them from their home.
