Celebrate 20 Years of the PlayStation at TruffleShuffle.com!

Well....we're stunned! This doesn't happen very often, but every once in a while we learn a cheeky fact or stat that leaves our eyes wide and our mouths open. Today is one of those days.

Yes indeediedodie, as hard and possibly scary as it might be, the humble PlayStation (or magic grey box of awesomeness as we like to think of it) turns a whopping 20 years old today! Yep all those years ago, kids and big kids all over Europe first got their eager hands on this little CD playing moment in gaming history and well.... things were never the same again.

Bringing us some of the best game ever including the likes of Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Tekken, MediEvil, Gran Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, Tony Hawks, and soooooo many more, this console has played such a huge part of many of our lives which countless hours spent and many amazing moments with friends.

Put simply, along with others we simply cannot imagine growing up without these little bundles of cool around and would also like to say a huge thank you to our and all the parents out there who went out and made our dreams come true all those years ago. You rock!

10 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About… Sony PlayStation

Calling all you gamers! With the iconic PlayStation celebrating it's 21 years of existence later this year (now we feel old!), this 90s legend has really been a part of all of our lives (probably) and has certainly given us more hours than we'd like to publicly admit worth of fun.

Hitting scene back in December 1994, barely a week after Sega’s rival Saturn console, PlayStation was born and has been leading the way for gaming ever since!

With some of the coolest games to its name and with a whole army of die-hard fans, we thought we would bust out another of our '10 Things You (Probably) Didn’t Know About..' posts and dedicate it to this console giant.

1- The controller symbols have meanings! Yep each symbol has its unique meaning and reflects what it's often used for. The green triangle refers to a viewpoint, ahead of the player's head, pointing the direction. The square refers to a piece of paper; which refers to a menu or a document and is, therefore, pink. The red circle and blue X mean yes or no for decision making.

Retro Gaming the Smart[phone] Way.....

In our office it's easy to spot the My Little Pony fan because she's wearing a 'Daddy I want a pony' hoodie or the office geek because he's wearing the latest Big Bang Theory t-shirt and our gamer t-shirts are being sported by our in-house Xbox addicts and Playstation junkies. But even with these very different fans occupying our office space every so often theres something that causes the office to act like crazed lunatics, the latest smartphone game.

With smartphones being all-the-rage in our office its meant that we could battle over Angry Birds, puzzle over Word Press and tactle Tap the Frog. Although these popular games cause commotions and comradery, there's some games we just keep coming back to for settling arguments. Here's the top 3 retro smartphone games to keep rivalry rife in the office.....

Snake - Due to the average age in Truffle Towers being 30 we don't really remember the original 70s release of this infamous game so this one takes us back to those 'First Mobile Phone' days of the Nokia 6110 and the argument with your mates about how long your worm is (ooh matron) and the best technique as not to bite your own tail. Everyone's an expert at this game.....
