SATURDAY 10th NOVEMBER

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) ITV1 London 2:45pm-5:20pm (2 hours 35 minutes)

The rebel heroes set out to rescue Han Solo from the clutches of alien gangster Jabba the Hutt before preparing for a decisive attack on the evil Empire. Meanwhile, Luke Skywalker faces a more personal battle in a final confrontation with Darth Vader that leads him to the inner sanctum of the Emperor himself. Conclusion of the sci-fi saga, starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher.

The Witches (1990) 5* 5:05pm-7:00pm (1 hour 55 minutes)

A boy goes on holiday with his grandmother to a seaside hotel hosting a convention of witches, who have come together to hear their leader's plan to turn all the children in England into mice. When the chief hag discovers the young lad eavesdropping at their meeting, she decides to make him one of her first victims. Children's fantasy directed by Nicolas Roeg, based on the book by Roald Dahl, and starring Anjelica Huston, Mai Zetterling, Jasen Fisher, Jane Horrocks, Rowan Atkinson and Brenda Blethyn.

Batman (1989) Sky Movies Action & Adventure 8:00pm-10:10pm (2 hours 10 minutes)

The masked avenger stalks the streets of Gotham City, waging a nightly war against the criminal element. However, he may have met his match when the city's crime syndicate is taken over by the crazed Joker, who plans to poison the populace with toxic chemicals. Tim Burton's comic-book adventure, starring Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson and Kim Basinger.

There's Something About Mary (1998) Channel 4 11:15pm-1:30am (2 hours 15 minutes)

A lovelorn man hires a sleazy private eye to track down his high-school sweetheart in the hopes of rekindling their brief relationship. By unfortunate coincidence, the detective also falls for her, and then it emerges there are even more men out there competing for her affections. Comedy from the Farrelly brothers, starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller, Matt Dillon and Lee Evans.

SUNDAY 11th NOVEMBER

The Flintstones (1994) ITV2 3:20pm-5:00pm (1 hour 40 minutes)

Fred is promoted to an executive position at work and immediately becomes embroiled in an embezzlement scheme - thanks in no small part to his seductive new assistant. Live-action version of the cartoon comedy, starring John Goodman and Rick Moranis, with Rosie O'Donnell, Halle Berry and Elizabeth Taylor.

The Nutty Professor (1996) Universal Channel 5:00pm-7:00pm (2 hours)

An obese, terminally shy professor invents a potion that transforms him into a slim, loud-mouthed charmer. His new streamlined self immediately sets out to woo the woman of his dreams - but soon starts to ride roughshod over everything he used to care about. Remake of the 1963 Jerry Lewis comedy, starring Eddie Murphy, Jada Pinkett Smith, James Coburn and Larry Miller.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) Sky Movies Modern Greats 8:00pm-9:45pm (1 hour 45 minutes)

A stressed businessman just wants to make it home to spend Thanksgiving with his family. However, when his flight is forced to land miles from its destination, he finds himself sharing a disaster-strewn journey across America with an amiable but slobbish salesman. Comedy road movie, starring Steve Martin, John Candy, Laila Robins, Kevin Bacon and Michael McKean.

Beetlejuice (1988) Sky Movies Modern Greats 9:45pm-11:30pm (1 hour 45 minutes)

Recently deceased couple Adam and Barbara Maitland enlist the professional services of a hard-boiled veteran ghost to scare away the obnoxious yuppie family who have moved into their former home. Tim Burton's supernatural comedy, starring Michael Keaton, Geena Davis, Alec Baldwin, Winona Ryder, Jeffrey Jones and Catherine O'Hara.

Ewoks on speeder bikes what a great way to start the weekend and Beetlejuice what an amazing way to end the weekend and that's not because I had a massive crush on Winona Ryder ;-)

The banana boat boat song is one my favourite moments - this song will be stuck in your head for days!
